It was a 40 minute drive but it was worth it. The lobster bisque was simply delicious . Service could improve, but the atmosphere was very nice. The virgin pina colada was pure delight. The lobster roll was ok, I’ve had better. Overall it was a good experience. We were a big group. Everyone appeared happy when we left.

We decided to go to Charlie’s based on the menu items offered. I would return, but next time we visit Crystal River, I think we’ll try another seafood place first. I got the swamp basket and it was pretty good but the potato salad as a side was not good at all. Other party members got a chicken sandwich which he said was dry, a clam basket which they liked, and Atlantic salmon which was fantastic. So definitely a mixture of good and not so good. The atmosphere was clean and the staff was ultra friendly so I can say I would recommend it despite not liking a few menu items.

We were really disappointed with our visit to Charlie’s fish house so much so my mother in law wanted to leave before our meal was even served because the waitress disappeared and it was taking so long but we asked her to stay. It was my husbands birthday and we were celebrating it. We had heard the place was good. Our waitress was not friendly and had an aloof attitude. We had the swamp basket which was very good. The frog legs were amazing. When we ordered our food my husband said he wanted his Seafood plate grilled and I had the stuffed flounder my mil had the Chicken Caesar Salad. My husband asked the waitress questions about the menu and not sure why but she never answered and never acknowledged he asked her a question. She pretty much ignored him. The waitress disappeared for a very long time and we did not even see her over 15 minutes then she brings the appetizer and puts it on the table then walks away and we do not see her again for about 30 minutes when she brings out our main course. My husbands food comes fried not grilled and they forgot a key part of his plate the fish, my stuffed flounder you could see was on the hot table for a long time and was dry on the top part from the lights. My MIL salad was wilted, chicken was dry and way over dressed with Caesar dressing. We asked for more drinks and it was over 15 minutes before she came back with them and by then we noticed the fish was not on my husbands plate. We informed her and she said she was sorry and does not know how they forgot to put it on. She said she will bring a piece out for him. Took a very long time to come out and by then we were ready to leave. We asked her to bring to go containers and she did. We were there a very long time so long people came after us and left. The stuff flounder was really nothing special and unfortunately my husbands meal was wrong and fried not grilled. My MIL had a hard time eating hers do to being over dressed and dry chicken. We paid $99 for meals that was really not good. The view is amazing and being on the water was very nice but service and food not so good.

This was my second time visiting Charlie’s, but the first for my parents and daughter. Let me tell you, they were all raving about how delicious their food was – my parents both had the fried catfish (the best they have had according to them). My daughter had the Swamp basket, and she was very happy!!

Feels like an old school super club, which I love, The service was fantastic. My husband ordered the peel and eat shrimp and the first batch was cooked differently, they were training in the kitchen, with the spice rub sauce cooked into it rather than poured over after a guess. Anyway, it made the shrimp wayyyyy to salty, our server was the best and warned us and said that she’d get us another if we didn’t like it and we didn’t, and quick as a whip she fixed it. The next batch was good and the regular way they served it. Lobster bisque and crab cakes were very yummy and two for one wine!!

We had lunch on a Tuesday. We had no wait for a table. Our server immediately greeted us and took our drink order. We ordered conch fritters for an app and I had the coconut shrimp lunch special. My wife had the shrimp chef salad. Both meals did not disappoint. The conch fritters were a little small but they were flavorful. Overall I would say this is a nice place for lunch. They do have a small area from outside dinning, but on a nice day that section is busy.

We have been eating there for years and went back to find the original owner sold!! The new owners do not think tartar Sauce in a fish house is important! I was told the chef refuses to order it im perplexed. The calamari that you are all used to being big have now been reduced to the size of a cheerio and im not even kidding , the margaritas are served in ice tea glasses and are pure premade mix. Wile in the parking lot leaving the people that were sitting next to us said the same thing the food is trash. We asked for a cranberry and vodka and this pic is what was served cranberry in a large ice tea or water glass with not even a taste of vodka. This place was a land mark sorry to see it go..

Best clam chowder ever. You will wait and wait and wait, but it’s absolutely worth it. Everything we had was fantastic, service was good and the view on the water was spectacular!
