For years this was my favorite place. We would drive all the way from Jamestown to eat here. Until two weeks ago when we were treated extremely poorly by an older female waitress. It’s was my daughter’s birthday. About 2 pm on a Friday afternoon. Not busy. She walked past us several times (for at least 15 minutes) without taking our order. When I asked if I could order, she muttered something at us, shot a dirty look pointed to the register and walked away. She then proceeded to clear several empty tables before coming to us without an apology. While I was eating (finally) she literally took my plate right from under me. I mean, I had food on my fork between plate and mouth. I figured she must be having a bad day. The food is amazing, so we tried going back again. 7pm on a weeknight. Again not too busy. Guess what? Same waitress. Took food away again AND reached across me to grab another plate I was eating from to grab that as well. Such a shame the service has turned so horrible. We drove from so far away that there’s no point in getting take out. Plus, we really used to enjoy the service there. Until they do something about her, we won’t be back.

I have been a loyal customer for about 20 yrs. We celebrated my sons 19th birthday here back in Feb this year. I must say the hostess and waiter were a little curt and not very pleasant. Food was great, so we “got over it”. But, we ordered takeout last night and it was the WORST food I have ever gotten from here….and it breaks my heart. We did order an hour before close, but when we got home and open the containers….it was obvious that something was different. My favorite is Sesame Chicken, another got Walnut Shrimp, plus we ordered crab Rangoon and fried shrimp. There were 4 of us and we all looked at each other when we started eating. Almost everything tasted like old grease, and the textures on all the food were the opposite from the usual. The chicken coating was mealy, and almost no sesame. The fried shrimp and crab normally have a crisp flavorful outside. Last night, the Rangoon was rubbery, the shrimp was very pale, no where near the golden color. It all tasted like it was marinated in old under temperature grease. We all felt nauseous after a few bites. Our order was over $100, and we included a $30 tip because it has been good in the past. I may try it again, simply because it was great for a LONG time, but not for a while….I still have an upset stomach today.

If basing Chang’s Garden Inc. strictly on atmosphere alone, it would be my go to place for lunch or dinner. Hands down, this restaurant has it going in all three areas, Food, Service, & Atmosphere, too.

I had General Tso lunch with fried rice. It was a little dry but okay. Lunch portions were abundant. The male server was nasty. My friend asked for some sweet/sour sauce to go with leftovers and he became verbally abusive. Yelling it costs $1.50 extra (which we didn’t know and never said we wouldn’t pay extra). Yelling loudly, very embarrassing. Last time I will go there.
