It’s no wonder they received a michelin star. The service is impeccable, food is delicious and beautifully presented, each dish looked like a work of art. The view is also beautiful. The chefs 8 course tasting menu was wonderful. The duck was so good. The chef also came out to present one of the dishes. If you get the tasting menu, they also give a little gift bag afterwards with the cookies made from the chefs grandma’s recipe. I’m pregnant and couldn’t eat one of the courses that had raw fish crudo, and was just going to skip it, but the server told the chef and he made sure to make another dish that complements the meal. It was a lovely dining experience and the food and service is very worthy of the michelin star and price.

I would give 5 stars for everything but the main course. The service was just outstanding – truly a 5 star staff. The antipasti course was tasty, especially the oysters. The 3 different pastas were served family style. Each was very rich in flavor and so delicious. Dessert was tasty. We paid the $105 upcharge to get the A5 Matsusaka Ribeye and I was…disappointed. My greatest disappointment was on the portion – a mere 2 slices for a $105 upcharge (see photo). While it’s accompanying sauce had flavor, the steak itself really wasn’t anything noteworthy, unfortunately. But the 2 slices was the killer for me. I wish I had eaten more pasta! If this was a 7 course tasting menu, I wouldn’t raise an issue. But for the upcharge, I was expecting a greater portion.

The dining experience is wonderful. We had the chef’s tasting menu and were impressed from start to finish. In fact, as each course arrived, it was able to build on the previous course and make you believe the next course wouldn’t top the one you just consumed. But the next course did and the entire dining experience was like that from start to finish. The service was crazy good, with the staff very attentive, friendly, and able to answer questions about the menu options in great detail. Of course, the location of the restaurant, with commanding views of the Channel Islands and beach is a bonus. Pick a reason to go – date night, special occasion, or just because you enjoy great food, great service, and great ambiance. The executive chef and team deserve a star, or two.

My daughter took my wife and me to Caruso’s for a sunset dinner and drinks . We had a four course gourmet dinner while the sun set and the tide moved everyone off the beach below. The dinner and drinks were fantastic, and the service was excellent. Owner and mayoral candidate,Rick Caruso, sat two tables from ours; and worked the crowd like the genial politician he is. “How are ya?” he said to me as he patted me on the shoulder and moved on to his table.

Unbelievable experience. We have been there for the 8 course tasting menu a few times (and even added the extra course option this time around). Chef Massimo is a true artist and you will see him frequently bringing his creations proudly to the table personally. Caruso’s gives a Michelin star experience while understanding that the customers’ delectation is always the primary objective.
