Adding to the ever eclectic and celebrated food scene of Queens, comes Chef Alwyn Gudhino with his unique Cardamom Indian restaurant in Sunnyside. What makes this unique is his Portuguese Indian (Goan) cuisine offerings here. While most adolescents his age, in the former tiny Portuguese coastal state in Goa, used their spare time to enhance their football (soccer) skills in the fields, strumming a guitar on the veranda (front porch) or tiatr (theater) acting, Alwyn snooped around his Grandma’s kitchen to learn the art of Goan cooking.

I have been meaning to try out Cardamom for a while but never got around to it, until this year’s Sunnyside Restaurant Week. I am so glad I made the decision! Every single dish I tried (the samosa chaat, Chicken 65, garlic/regular naan, chicken vindaloo, tandoori chicken, and gulab jamun) was absolutely delicious and easily beat the vast majority of Jackson Heights Indian restaurants in regards to both taste and quality. The portions were also very filling and appropriate for the price paid! All of the personnel were quite kind as well. Cardamom’s place on the Michelin Bib Gourmand list is quite well deserved. Will definitely be coming back.

This is the best Indian food I have ever eaten, and I have dined in Indian restaurants all over the world. We started with the vegetable samosa which was perfectly cooked and so fragrant and delicious! Then I had aloo gobi mutter, all I can say is that it was so delicious I wished I could eat more!!! The servings were so generous I couldn’t finish it! My daughter ordered the chicken tikki Marsala and loved it. I also ordered a glass of the house Cabernet which was quite good! We loved sitting outside as it was a beautiful evening. The service was excellent and everyone was so nice. HIGHLY recommend and will visit here every time I come back to visit my daughter!

Ok I don’t have any photos but this is actually one of my favorite restaurants, I come here a lot. The service workers are SO sweet and helpful and the food?? Scrumptious, always hits As a vegetarian they have a whole section dedicated to vegans/veggies which is great, love to see it, 10/10 recommend

No need to read any more reviews. This place is fantastic. The food is of the highest quality, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Ordering take out? Get an extra dish or two for extra leftovers. Worth it!

One of the best indian restaurants in queens. I love the taste of the foods. The cheese naan was good but I expected more cheese inside the naan.

Definitely try their nun, it is really well made. Their spicy fish was well made too, great distinct taste of all the spices. Their biryani could have been better! Service was really good and the owner of the restaurant was very tactful towards customers.

Food was great and the waiter was nice, but we found a staple in our naan. They immediately apologized and changed it, but I was expecting for them to at least take the naan off the bill or give us some kind of service on the house considering it could have caused a serious health hazard. I realize mistakes happen, but the manager could’ve done a better job of the customer service compensating for the experience.

First time having this since they changed ownership. Same chef. After walking around a while it was the place I felt the best for outdoor seating on a really cold night. Mostly closed but open enough to be ventilated. The food was delish! Service was great. Bill was cheap because BYOB.

First time here on Mother’s Day, was referred by a friend. My husband is not a person on trying other culture foods. The waiter lady was patient with him by explaining what they have & the taste. She also said we could bring our own drinks. My husband got, dish called: (CHICKEN TIKKA)-$17 w/ 1 lemon rice-$6 & Garlic Naan-$3. Also, she remembers what children usually order for my children to try: (BUTTER CHICKEN- MILD comes w/white rice & green peas on top)-$17. I like anything, so I told her to give me their popular dish: (Spicy Lambseekh Kabab)-$19 with a side of salad called: Saag Paneer MILD- $15 which my whole family loved. Also, we got 2 starters that the waiter suggested called: Samosa-$5 & Lasuni Gobi-$6. Both we’re really good that my children were excited to try there main dish. I attached photos, forgot to take a photo of the starters. Will definitely go back again.
