Best food I’ve ever had in my life! Unbelievable the generous amount of incredibly delicious food that was on our plates. The server, Laura, was super sweet and efficient & made helpful suggestions. The owner came out to our table to say hi & was so funny and kind. Cannot wait to go back again!

Really nice staff. Food was good – not fabulous, but very good. We all had the 1/2 lb prime rib and lobster tail special. It was good. The 2 for 1 margaritas were delicious. The best part was meeting Captain John himself. 99 and still going strong!

Great food. The lobster Mac & Cheese, the Showboat and the Lobster bisque were all great.

We’re vacationing in Sylvan and dining choices on Monday’s and Tuesday’s are slim pickings, especially if you’re gluten free! So after reading mixed reviews we decided to take a chance. It was Taco and Tequila Tuesday and the restaurant was crowded, but our table of three were seated right away. Our drink and appetizer order was taken promptly by our lovely, young server. The 2 for 1 margaritas were lite, but still tasty. Mozzarella sticks crisp, salad small with a scrumptious ranch dressing. My daughter enjoyed her Cesar Salad and my husband liked his Surf and Turf (especially compared to the one he had at Harpoon Eddies earlier in the week at twice the price) and my Chicken Marsala was flavorful and tender. When we informed our server that my husband was gluten free she said she’d tell the kitchen. We were pleased when the manager came to clarify an ingredient with us to ensure the meal was gluten free. Dessert were mixed. The coconut sorbet was delicious, but my daughter was disappointed with the texture of her crème brûlée. As stated in many reviews the service and food are the stars here, and yes prices are a little high and decor is kitschy, but Captain John’s is still a solid choice for dining in the area.

We were looking for a restaurant and other restaurants had a 40 to 90 minute wait. Captain John’s said they could seat us immediately so off we went. We soon learned why they had immediate seating. The presumed owner greeted us at the door and the hostess seemed very nice. Our server was amazing and very on top of everything. The problem with this restaurant is all the hidden charges and complete lack of alcohol in any of their drinks. Our $26 prime rib and lobster dinner went up in price significantly because we substituted mashed potatoes, added mushrooms and onions or horseradish sauce and a side salad. Of course they don’t point this out to you when you are ordering. The 2 for 1 margaritas are a joke. It appeared to be just margarita mix over crushed ice for $16. Our bill with tip for 5 people was $400. It very much has a tourist trap feel to it. It’s too bad because we are already making plans for next year but will skip this place.

This place was great from location to food, price. We were greeted by the owner Captain John. He was the sweetest man ever. Personable and friendly. The wait staff was excellent. The food was excellent and atmosphere was excellent. Our waiter was new this season and he was exceptional. Can’t remember his name though. I recommend this place to everyone. Nothing bad to say.

We stopped to have a quick bite while in town. We ordered their Signature salads. We were given oblong plates with 6 tiny grape half’s, a slice of cheese, spritz of balsamic and 4 candies walnuts of a mound of lettuce for $12. Really?! We also ordered the fried zucchini, it was edible but not worth the price. The restaurant was hot, they seriously need to upgrade the AC. our waitress was wonderful and super attentive. It’s off the bucket list.

My boyfriend and I were excited to try Captain John’s since we had just moved to the area. Unfortunately our experience was less than stellar. We were immediately met with COMPLETELY OVERPRICED food. Our waitress was wonderful but when we got our food – rodeo burger and prime rib mac and cheese – all sides were cold, main dishes were over cooked/under cooked. After a few bites each we decided that we were not paying for inedible food. We asked our waitress to talk to the manager, come to find it through these other reviews, it’s the same rude women who is also the manager of this place. My boyfriend was polite in the fact that the food was inedible and we were not going to pay. We were made to explain exactly what was wrong with the food rather than apologize and move on with the night. As this manager was walking away she continued to berate us with a horrible attitude. The only good thing about this place is the decor.

My fiance and I have never had a bad experience here and it isnt going to start now. This was by far our best time at any resteraunt we’ve been to. Captain john was out front and greeted us and even sung my fiance a song.grabbed a pic with the legend on our way out. it was awesome to finally meet him. Our server Mick was phenomenal and super attentive. Even had some hilarious jokes for us. The food was exceptional. Hats off to the chef. I highly recommend for a nice meal and great atmosphere! we will be back again for sure!

My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here. Food was outstanding. Didn’t go with their everyday $24.99 as we saw what was being brought to other tables, theirs looked thin. We ordered the mate prime rib and king’s cut and they were perfectly sized and cooked for the price. We had this lobster appetizer sorry can’t remember the name of it but it was very tasty and real lobster with a cucumber Wassabi sauce. No picture of appetizer. I was completely in the moment. The drinks we ordered were very good as well. Except the bloody Mary had ice shaving instead of chunks of ice. Was like a slushy bloody Mary. Weird. Also gave 4 stars cause I felt we were rushed. Dinner came 4 minutes after our appetizers. Lessoned learned don’t order meal till appetizers come out. We will go back definitely for the prime rib.
