At our Brooksville, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I went today to Captain D’s for the first time. I really like the food as Long John silver’s expecting something like that. Unfortunately I was disappointed. I ordered fish and chicken with french fries and macaroni and cheese. I did not like the flavor of the chicken or the fish. The macaroni and cheese had a strange consistency way too soggy. Also since it was the first time I was there I was told the meals come with two sides. And I can choose from anything on the list that was presented. Unfortunately I found out that some items on the list heading up charge but was not told this before ordering. If I was told this I would have not ordered. The total came out for $30 for two people. Very expensive for some standard quality food. I do not recommend.

This was my first time eating here and I was in Heaven with everything I tasted! I ordered the deluxe seafood platter and it was all so delicious! I got two stuffed crabs, fried shrimp, two pieces of batter fried fish that was perfectly done, crispy outside and flaky inside and two hush puppies. Normally I can’t stand hush puppies but these were so good. The coleslaw was amazing and the fries were delicious! There was so much that I wound up taking half of it home and even after it had gotten cold it was still so good, even the fries were delicious cold and I’ve never had fries before that were good cold!

I work fairly close to this location and eat here often. I know it is not as fast as a burger joint but it is worth the little extra time, usually. Just a reminder to ALWAYS check your order before you leave. Got back to work and my grilled fish meal with a grilled shrimp skewer and double green beans (so good) was missing the fish. They did remember the side of lemon I asked for to squeeze on the fish which was nice. lol

There was no one else in there except for us. The place was a mess the floor was slippery and greasy the bathroom was a disgrace! But when you have to go you have to go! The fried shrimp was okay the fish was bland and tasteless the hush puppies inedible. I had always wanted to try it and so disappointed now that I did!

Contrary to the last post about someone working Long John Silver’s I have to say your restaurant is at least A Step Above Long John servers. Both restaurants have completely gone downhill service atmosphere cleanliness and misses the mark in each and every category but on the upside it’s not as bad as Long John Silver that food is more disgusting I won’t walk into another Long John Silver’s but if you don’t do something about your restaurant and the quality of the food that you serve you might as well shut the doors I don’t understand why people do not take and show more respect for the place they work. Has a former manager of at least two other fast food restaurants I would have fired the entire crew. If you don’t want to work then don’t come to work but don’t take the business down just because you don’t care and that’s just my opinion

My food was good. Fish and shrimp, loved the malt vinegar on hand. Waited a bit for the food. Seemed like they only had one person for the counter and drive thru together, during lunch rush. 2nd part of the order was missing the chicken completely. Will try again.

wow! the food here is amazing. I had the lemon pepper grilled whitefish and it was really super. Served on rice and cooked perfectly. For sides I had the green beans and the fried okra. both excellent. they added a dry tasteless breadstick for some reason. the staff were friendly and helpful.

For anyone who thinks this place is anything like the other “fish place” (LJS’s), you are sadly missing out! I originally didn’t try Captain D’s for the same fears. I thought I’d again just get greasy food that was sub-par. Captain D’s is not even in the same ocean! I especially love their Captain’s Classics! You gotta try this place if you love seafood! You won’t regret it!
