At our Lake City, FL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

1/31/23 I placed an order inside but I wasn’t asked if it was for here or take out. They assumed it was to go they fixed my plate as if it was a kids meal the fries were cold only gave me 7 fries yes I counted them the cole slaw was okay the fish was warm and the hush puppies were warm as well. The food overall was horrible it was not worth $14 I do not recommend Captain D’s

Very busy place but got the order quick. Nice and hot. Not enough employees to work and the 3 that were there need a raise. They were working their buttons off!

Google said they were open until 10:00 pm. We got there at 9:10 and the lobby was closed. They told us we would have to use the drive thru. So we did. We put in our order and asked for sweet tea. They said they didn’t have any, so I said unsweetened tea then. They said they didn’t have that either. When we pulled up to the window, we paid and sat and waited. While we were waiting, we saw an employee taking what was left of the tea, plenty for two cups. They were filling a gallon jug with it and taking it home with them, we saw them leave with it. Kinda rude if I say so myself. Then, when we got our order, we checked it, and we were missing the bread rolls. It took some time and me getting out of my car to knock on the window, but I finally got the attention of the employee working the drive thru. I told her, and she got them for us, without any apologies, of course.

They are having a special on fried shrimp. You will get 12 shrimp for $1.99. Sounds like a good deal which it can be. However, the shrimp are not the best. I also ordered an order of oysters. The oysters were so fishy tasting that they were too disgusting to eat. Normally, the food here is good but this time it was food. The service is always good and event the visitors and guests here are great.

Very disappointed . I ordered the 4 piece fish and the garlic and herb shrimp combo. Everything tasted like freezer brunet. With the price of the meals it should at least come with a drink. I’m more upset about the fact that my food tasted freezer brunet. That’s a slap in the face. I work hard for my money. When I decided to go and treat myself to what I thought would be some great tasting food is an insult. Will not be returning at least not to the one in Lake City.

Understaffed. One person at the counter taking care of indoor customers and drive through customers by herself. Our food set for 5 minutes while the clerk took orders and dealt with the drive through. She needed help but she did as well as could be expected for someone alone at the counter. The catfish was very good but $6.58 for two medium drinks is outrageous!

The first time that I came here, I did not like the food. That was years ago, when it first opened. Friend of mine brought me there for lunch, unfortunately I had already eaten, I did have Hush puppies…delish… I think I might come back and try the fishing again.

Really like to use Captain D’s coupons once or twice a month, usually no lines inside & does not take too long before one’s order is ready. Courteous and patient staff most of the time. Ample seating capacity and very attractive prices, though, somewhat limited on kids meals & desserts

I was so impressed, thank you so much for hot fries, well seasoned fish, fresh Cole slaw. Light, fluffy hush puppies . I have passed by several times but my niece recommended it and this is my second visit. Thank you, I pray nothing changes unless it gets better
