A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Today, I have mixed emotions. I always drive across town to this location because the Fish and other fried items are ALWAYS cooked fresh and hot. My experience today was like on Liberty Street extension. My fish was apparently re fried- wilted and the grease was pressed out. My cole slaw was absolutely horrible. I understand that everyday won’t be the same but, this can’t be compared to the worst. I ordered the 3-piece fish dinner. I won’t allow this to be my last time, but thought it should be noted so that it can be corrected.

Not a friendly place to spend your money. Over-priced, small servings coupled with service that leaves much to be desired. Unfriendly and short tempered staff made this experience one I had to relate. Also, opens when they feel like it, and not the times listed.

First time we stopped in a Captain D’s. We had be told about then. But the food is great!! Fresh, hot. The Catfish was a thin cornbread coating. The butterfly shrimp was wonderful, lightly battered. Very good!! The girl behind the counter was very helpful and pleasant!! Thank you.

I was with a 93 yr old dear friend …who wanted to dine here…she had been craving Captain D’S for 2 weeks she said. She doesn’t go out to eat much but this is one of her favorite places…she used to visit Cap D’s with her late husband every Sunday..they always would get a plate to share. I was happy to treat her..the food was delicious and she was happy.
