At our Sumter, SC location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.
Fast-food chain serving fried fish & shrimp combo meals along with gumbo & funnel cakes. Based on 489 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 3.9 stars. Price $

I have never experienced the service I got at Captain D’S tonight awful. Jacob his name told me that this fish is expectable for $15. There was nothing he could do. He did not offer to recook. Did not offer to add extra or nothing. Fish looks like it has been cut in half. Oh and it supposed to be Catfish. Another employee said it was catfish but it was not cooked and dipped right, so she offered to cook more fish. I’m going out to my car with the food that wasn’t right to get my phone so I can take a picture. This Jacob dude follows behind me heading out towards the door and said hey you need to give that food back in order for me to cook more. I took that bag and threw it on the counter and it hit the floor. The night manager comes from the back saying I will give you your money back and I told her I was posting this. She told me why don’t you tell them how you threw the food at my employee She told me she should call the police on me for throwing that bag at her employee. I told her I threw it on the counter and it hit the floor. This is a $15 plate small pieces of catfish that didn’t look like catfish at all. Customer service was horrible between this young boy and the night manager wasn’t no better. I will never go back to that Captain D’S on Liberty Street in Sumter SC. This is how this food was served. Not saying I was keeping some food but who does that follow a customer. Are you serious?? I’m just done

I use to enjoy captain d’s. I ordered 4 dinners and they were bad. 1 tsp of coleslaw . The fish wasn’t done. I spent 1/2 hour in the bathroom. Threw it all away. Oh the Mac and cheese was very thick and cold. Terrible. Will NEVER go back

Captain D’s food quality has been going down in the recent years just as their prices have been going up. At the time of this review a moderate sized two-person meal will usually cost around $30. The food’s not bad but in my opinion a full-on seafood restaurant is the better option.

1st time visit. The food wasn’t bad. It was all hot and pretty fresh. Some of the staff were very pleasant and others seemed to need a hug.

The place was so nasty. I will never eat here again. There was food, trash and other stuff on the floor. I know its kind of hard to keep it pristine looking; also I have worked in the food industry but this was awful. Atleast sweep up the stuff so no one will fall.

I’d give y’all a 0 if I could. Whoever is running the drive thru at this location tonight (12-5-22 @ 7:15 p.m.) is super rude. My husband asked about the gumbo being spicy and the girl taking the order didn’t answer the first time so he repeated himself. She then became snappy with him when she decided to answer the question and said she didn’t know because she doesn’t eat gumbo. Little did she know, it was for our one year old son! (because he can’t chew anything off the children’s menu and clearly can’t ask nor answer anyone for himself) Instead of being rude to the ones that help support a paycheck, go ask another co-worker if they know anything about the food on the menu or politely respond to the customer that you’re unsure of something. Not once were we rude to this girl. It doesn’t cost a thing to be nice to someone even if you’re having a rough day. Please work on the customer service. Needless to say, we left mid-order and won’t be coming back.

Wife and I met with a friend and were able to visit without feeling rushed. Both ladies working the counter were super nice. Food was fresh and hot. Side portions could have been a little larger.
