At our Hopewell, VA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

One of the Best Captain Ds Ive ever dealt with! (And Ive been thru a lot). The food is always fresh, the order is always accurate, and the Sweet Tea is always just right. I had to walk inside to get my mobile order? I couldn’t get it from the drive thru?! That’s ridiculous. Plus, the fat woman at the register didn’t greet me when I came in, and didn’t greet me at the register, instead she walked away. I heard her say “what is this for?” I looked at her and she was asking me the question. I got better service at the drive thru!

I like the fact that this is the ONLY Captain D’s location which allow you to leave your tray on the table and someone comes to clear it. Staff was nice and food was good. I am not used to a fast food style seafood place so we were impressed.

Food was super fresh! Served with tons of smiles and happy employees! Lots of food for the price. I was able to take some fried okra home for my wife, who loved it too. Regarding the atmosphere… Well, it’s Captain D’s. You can expect a live band or people to mingle with. It was quiet and relaxing, and there were no shootouts like they have at Waffle House, so that was cool. 13/15 highly recommend.

I am not someone who eats fast food. At all. However, Captain D’s has put lobster rolls on their menu and I decided one day when I pulled in to get some sweet tea to try them. And they’re pretty good. And the best thing is they’re pretty cheap. So for 7:50 I can get two lobster rolls, coleslaw or fries or whatever side I want and a sweet tea or drink of choice. When you look at the price of a burger joint you can’t even get a burger for that. I would much rather have a lobster roll. I did ask them what was in it and the young girl that was working behind the cash register said the only thing she knew for sure was that it had crab in it. That really made me laugh.
