Food was pretty good. I ordered ahead so I didn’t have to wait. Will definitely eat here again. I looked forward to reviewing after reading other reviews. Being from Detroit where there are many souls food styles I was concerned about the amount of negative complaints like Lansing has other options. Typically you find the SF made how you like and eat there. Either way this one was pretty good to me. I’d recommend it for sure.

I googled black owned restaurants in celebration of Black History Month. Capital City Soul Food was closest to my home. Because if Covid, the menu was cut back. I ordered catfish, collard greens, and mac n cheese. There was enough for two meals! All of it was delicious. The corn bread was still warm and so moist. I will most definitely be visiting there again. Great job !

Got catfish dinners and three sides. Everything was great. The guy that cooked the food and served me was very nice. I’ll definitely be going back! For all the African American people that go to and praise these other fish fry type of places but don’t support your own, y’all are the problem. Support your own! The fish was the best I’ve had in Lansing! Well seasoned and fried perfectly

The food is AMAZING and the staff are so friendly and kind. Get out of your comfort zone and try something new, you won’t regret it! I tried the Ox Tail based off a recommendation from the staff, and it did not disappoint. In fact it was a wonderful surprise and absolutely something I plan to get again. Also they have the best collard greens in town, hands down.

The best soul food spot in the Lansing area. I recommend calling ahead for your order. The pork chop dinner, mac and cheese, and cornbread stuffing was delicious. I also tried the peach cobbler but will not get it again the next time I go. The owner was doing it all himself and was very friendly.

I gave it 2 stars because someone else paid for it. I was a bit disappointed. The food looked marvelous. Then I tasted it. I’m not a fan of sugar in my cabbage. The sweet corn was more sugar flavored. And my oxtails was more like boiled meat over rice. It lacked the flavor.

Order two different meals, didn’t take long to get the order, food was fresh very tasty. I go back again. Where I thought they were located at though they weren’t located. They are located closer to Holmes Road and Waverly Road right next to that Waverly convenience store. It’s a small business but they do good service.

Not sure if the people who owns this owns Capitol City BBQ as well but if so great job with what you’re doing. The food is good. However, I would suggest maybe making the Fish dinners apart of soul food dinners because technically fish is soul food or at least making the dinners with two sides.

My husband just came back with food from this place. I was so Darn excited about getting pickle fries and cornbread. Well they were out of pickles. No biggie stuff happens. We get the food out and even though my husband ordered and paid for cornbread we didn’t get any. My pulled beef sandwich was greasy and mostly chunks of fat piled between two pieces of pain white bread. The sandwich was inedible. My niece got the pork sandwich. Which was a dry pork chop with no sauce and the bone still in. Also on two pieces of plain white bread. My husband is the only one who ate his food and he got a burger. Huge waste of time and money. As now we sit here eating McDonald’s instead of what was served to us here.
