Atmosphere was great as it was our first time here for a special occasion. We were a bit surprised as to how small the portions were for the bread (comes on the house) and the meatballs (which cost $18) the filet mignon was delicious but for $54 we hoped to get more. The bread came in only two pieces paired with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The pasta was rather disappointing taste as it was mostly Salt tasting and no other prominent flavors. The clams were rather salty and the sauce wasn’t amazing either. The steak was cooked beautifully though and melts in your mouth. It also came with a half an onion and toasted side salad. This place isn’t for us but the food is alright. The price we couldn’t justify for ᵕ̈ but I guess that’s fine dining. Not sure if we’d come back. Interactions with restaurant staff was a bit awkward as well but nothing too major! Definitely has some improvement points.

Burrata appetizer is definitely a must. Missed taking a picture. Was lucky to grab picks of the rest… even if it was after already having a bite (or two). Wait staff is amazing (nice job, Brooke!). Bartender did a great job with drinks (again, pics are after already having imbibed). Pasta is homemade. Insalata and the lasagna were fabulous. Would come again in a heartbeat.

Cansano Italian Steakhouse Opening Night. Owner Chuck is fantastic. The food was excellent. From homemade pasta to dry aged steaks and 10 layer lasagna. Highly recommend our new local restaurant. Go support small business!

Bottom line: come back in a few months when they’ve gotten the “new business” kinks worked out. I was excited to try out Cansano after seeing a couple of early reviews on the COS Foodies page. I’ve lived in a few regions in Italy; so, I’m always looking for something close to authentic. I’d heard that Cansano aspires to represent authentic food from the Abruzzo region of Italy (east of Rome). My husband and I made reservations for our regular Wednesday night date night and arrived at 6:00. It took a while to welcome us and get us seated; but, once we did, we had a drink order taken after a bit. We enjoyed a flight of spritzer drinks (with limoncello, orangecello, Aperol, and cucumber/mint) and a gin/grapefruit cocktail–all were good. It took about another 30 minutes for a server to come by to take an appetizer order (caprese salad–decent, despite the tomatoes being a bit under-ripe). We were surprised there was no complimentary bread–that’s standard even in most of the pedestrian restaurants in Italy

We so enjoyed our dinner here! We had mussels & burrata for apps. Mussels: 10/10, burrata: 7/10. But our mains were out of this world. My boyfriend ordered the 14oz Akaushi NY Strip and it was (and I quote) the best steak he’s had in 6 years. Paired with risotto & baby carrots which were incredible! I had shrimp scampi which was absolutely outstanding. We ordered the Capitel De Roari Amarone – also incredible. Our server, Dominic, took such wonderful care of us – so knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive! Overall 11/10 would recommend!

We’ve visited Cansano 3 times now and I really wanted to write a great review. We are residents within walking distance and had such high hopes. The employees and the service are great. Unfortunately the product is lacking. I just paid $17 dollars for a Woodford Reserve Old Fashioned, which is laughable! Was it good, yes. But it tasted just like the one I pay $9 for at a nearby competitor. The house drinks were also good, but over priced. The food pricing is reasonable, while still on the high end. The lasagna was tasty but also simple and pasta heavy. There was little to no stuffing between the noodles. The roasted artichoke has great flavor.

My husband took me to Cansano to celebrate our wedding anniversary. He had a reservation and when we arrived, we were seated immediately. Our waiter Gabby was attentive and helpful. She knew it was our anniversary and made the effort to acknowledge our special occasion. We aren’t wine knowedgeable, yet Gabby was able to assist us in choosing wines that we were looking for. I had the halibut and buttered beans, which were tender and flavorful. My husband enjoyed his chicken parmigiana. The ice cream with espresso was just lovely. We sat outside, which was quieter than the indoor part of the restaurant.

I know this is a new restaurant, so I understand there are going to be some hiccups. Dominick was very attentive and answered our questions. I wish there was some type of bread served with olive oil and seasoning. The food took a while to come out but was delicious. I’m going to say that the Margarita pizza was to die for. My husband and I would come back to try other things on the menu.
