As you enter Clayton, between the Bocce Courts and Skipollini’s, don’t blink. Park, and see what’s on the Daily Menu Board. No,you can’t call or text or order online. As they say, Subway is around the corner!!! If you want a great big delicious sub….go here!!!! It’s well worth it!!!

I was up in Clayton visiting my buddy “Doc” who works at Canesa’s. I went there for the second time and again, this place did not disappoint! Not only is the atmosphere hilariously irreverent, but the sandwiches are FANTASTIC. I stand by my original claim that this is the best sandwich shop I have EVER eaten in!! If your passing through the very small town of Clayton, be sure to add Canesa’s to your list of “must” visits.

By far and away the best lunch spot in Clayton, so long as you like great sandwiches. Massive and delicious without breaking the bank. Even the staff here is friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, which as you can see, is extensive.

Today my family and I had an opportunity to go to a sandwich shop claiming my hometown roots. I was very excited to see what all the fuss was about. The owner is an authentic BROOKLYNITE. We shared old neighborhood stories so I knew he was official and not just milking the name. The sandwiches were top notch it brought me right back to Brooklyn via the left coast. I highly recommend this place all the sandwiches are cleverly named (except for the Sheepshead Bay) lol… private joke. The hero shop is nestled in downtown Clayton CA. Compliments to the chef…. after eating here it will be difficult to FORGETABOUTIT.

I just ate there 2 days ago. Its a great place to grab a sandwich, to SHARE with your friend. As the sign says, it isnt Subway. The prices are higher than the photos of the menu would indicate ($15 vs $10 in the old photos). – but the sandwiches are worth every penny. Too much food for one person. They should offer half-sized sandwiches as an option, imho. Outdoors there is one picnic table which you share with whoever else is there. Strike up a conversation, you might just make a new friend.
