I’ve never had the opportunity to try Peruvian food but this was a great experience to enjoy. I brought one of my Peruvian friends and he enjoyed the food even more than I did. The chicken, rice, and French fries with the green salsa were extremely delicious and worth trying. This is the place to go for polla a la braza or for amazing Peruvian eats!

The cooks, waitress and staff are very nice . My wife and I loved the food also. Would eat here every week if we lived near Richmond. Definitely recommend this awsome family restaurant. We ordered the pollo A La brasa and a chicken gyro, we also grabbed some empanadas to go. Everything was delicious .

I went here 4 times while visiting the area. I’m certainly aware of KFC, Churches, many store brands of rotisserie chicken, as well as getting it straight from a deli. However, the way that Canastas Chicken prepare the rotisserie chicken is the best chicken I’ve ever had personally speaking. They also charge less than many places, even with sides included. You get A LOT more food for the same price as other places that have chicken and rotisserie chicken, and it’s done perfectly in my opinion. Everyone there is also very nice. The service is very fast (I waited 5m or less for half a chicken and sides, and just over 5m for a whole chicken and large sides). There make everything to order. So, if they just put more chicken on the rotisserie, it may add a minute or it may not. They work fast and efficiently.

Finally some good local Peruvian food! Really great dishes—from the ceviche to the chicken skewers I was beyond impressed with this spot. I’ve been to spots like this in many other cities but none have hit the mark as well as Canastas. Keep the quality this level and you’ll be the go-to for amazing food in RVA!

As soon as you go in there it stinks and I’m not sure if it’s bad handling of the fish or a dirty mop. Floor is sticky and slippery and the employees take mask off whenever they please. Meanwhile the food is just there in the open getting cold and spoken on as well as flies over the place. I walked away and didn’t even try it. Otherwise the place looks very nice inside.

The chicken was aboslutely amazing. Had a beautiful crispy but delicate skin. The dark meat was my favorite. Super flavorful and tender. The breast as great as well but the dark meat was perfection. The plantains had a wonderful slightly but not sickly sweet taste. A sticky sweet outside with soft fluffy interior. The fried rice was a perfect side to bring the meal together. Service was wonderful. Took my order and sliced the chicken fresh Infront of me. Was in and out in under 5 minutes and food was steaming hot. A must try with wonderful food and service. One of my new favorite spots.
