By far my favorite place to go when in Downtown Portland! This was the 3rd time I’ve been here. I am always one to try new dishes but I’ve gotten the same thing every time and it never disappoints. The duck stack is a sweet, savory and has a little kick of spice. Such a complex dish that I’ve never experienced before. This time I decided to also get the Albacore Crudo which was also excellent. For some reason I was not expecting it to be served in a bowl, I was expecting it to look like a roll or something along those lines but that’s on me. Either way the flavors were melting in my mouth. I recommend this place to everyone I speak with while I’m here. Surprised to hear a lot of locals did not even know about them!

If you’re looking for an amazing meal look no further. The seasonal specials on the menu showcase the best of the Pacific Northwest and highlights the freshest locally sourced ingredients with a down to earth French spin. To match the amazing food Canard has THE BEST HOSPITALITY in all of Portland. As soon as you walk in you feel at home and the decor is Devine! Lastly, don’t sleep on the desserts, they will knock your socks off. Can’t wait to bring my family of four back and have another unforgettable meal. Thank you Canard!!

“Never have I tasted food this good” said my husband as we savored every morsel of the foie gras dumplings. The sugar snap pea and asparagus was my favorite dish though. The flavor combination so unique, yet comforting, and very satisfying. I could eat this every day, happily. We always enjoy sitting in the kitchen section and watching these skilled chefs create dishes that they are proud of and that taste so damn good.

We came here to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful time. The server was really great and very knowledgeable about their wines. The wine list is extensive! We had the sliders, steak frites, and the foie gras dumplings. I would highly recommend the dumbing, they were very creamy and flavorful.

My partner and I moved to Seattle last year but every time we visit Canard is a must. The foie gras dumplings are the single best thing I’ve ever eaten, each time delighting us with a new seasonal variation. Very close second is the duck stack with the extra foie. It’s gourmet stoner food and I say that with the deepest appreciation. Sitting at the counter and watching the chefs weave their magic is an extra treat on top of the wonderful service we’ve received each and every visit. I love this place with all my organ meats.

Excellent ambiance and food. They made me a killer old fashioned too. We enjoyed the fried chicken wings, steam burgers, and steak frites. These people know food and it was the culinary highlight of our trip to Portland.

We were looking for French cuisine after experiencing the great food culture in Paris this Winter. We were very excited to be at Canard. We ordered Chicken Liver Mousse, Foie Gras Dumplings, Cavier and Bone Marrow Waffle, Truffle & Trumpet Lasagna and Paris-Brest. Overall, the food presentation was great. It made us reminiscing the days we spent in France. But the food taste did not meet our expectation. There was something missing that would tantalize our taste buds. Chicken Liver Mousse was trying to immitate the traditional Foie Gras. I would say the Liver Mousse was as good as Duck liver. But, the addition of Passion fruit and orange marmalade did not enhance the taste overall. The passionfruit was a touch lemony that did not go well with the Liver Mousse. The Crostini was a little bit extra-salty. The Foie Gras Dumpling was good. The taste was rich. Not sure if there would be something good to complement the taste than the smoked duck tea. But, overall it was a good try. I would suggest others to try as well. The next we tried Cavier and Bone Marrow Waffle. This was a completely new item for us. We liked the idea. But the sweetness of the Crème fraîche and the richness of the Bone Marrow did not complement each other. It was a very rich dish and the amount was satisfying. But I might not try it next time. For first timers, I would suggest it. Next was the Truffle & Trumpet Lasagna. This was undoubtedly the best dish of the night. I am a always a fan of the Truffle Butter. The taste was great. The lasagna was very juicy and The Hazelnut Purèe was getting along great with the Giardeniera. This is definitely a must try. We had Pris-Brest for dessert. We missed this dessert in Paris. We were trying to explore it but could not match time and location. But this item was also another one that I do not think all the ingredients were in sync. The mint mousse tasted like tooth paste. I would have preferred either plain vanilla or chocolate mousse. In altogether, our experience did not meet the hype. But, perhaps we were expecting too much. As a French cuisine experience, it was good. I would suggest others to give it a try. Because we do not it Pork/Bacon/Ham, we could not try the Duck stack. The service was reallt good. They understood that we cannot have Bacon and suggested items accordingly. In conclusion, the food presentation and service was as good as any french restaurents but we did not like the Americanized taste. Feel free to reach me for any disagreement.

Good food but the flavors and richness of the items all lean salty or fatty so it’s hard to eat after a few courses.

The vibes are dope here. The steam burgers keep me coming back. They’re so squishy and cheesy. If you go during happy hour 4-5 the steam burgers are $1.50 less, worth leaving work early for IMO (but then again..most things are).

Overall great dinning experience. I enjoyed watching the chefs enthusiastically prepare the food. We ordered five dishes for dinner and we enjoyed most of them especially the Oeufs En Mayonnaise and Pan roasted cod. The duck stack is a bit disappointing as it is salty and sweat. We would consider visiting again in the future if there are new dishes.
