Tried this place for the first time yesterday. It must have been bring your child to work day because one of the workers brought her preschooler to work with her and she was running around the restaurant. Anyway, I had an asada taco and hubby had an asada burrito with beans & rice added and an adobada taco. The asada tasted okay but had a lot of chewy cartilage parts. The burrito was huge and very filling. The adobada was dry and tasteless. They had a nice salsa bar though.

What a perfect spot to get 24/7 Mexican food. You would think that some fast food place that is open 24/7 is bad but it’s wasn’t! This place was delicious, I’d go here in the day too. Friendly service and good portion sizes.

Only one person to serve both in house and the drive in made for a 20 minute wait. Steak was tough. Please people, don’t think this is anything like cal-mex which I love. At least they have a salsa bar.

Growing up in San Diego, I have been missing a good no frills taco shop and California Mexican Food does it for me. The food is amazing and the perfect taco shop food. Quick, large sizes and tasty. To add on top to that they have an amazing salsa bar, with something for everyone. I recommend them to everyone I know.

Went here twice. The first time, I saw the prices and thought they would be the pitifully tiny burritos you’d find in other places around in the east side. When they called my number and I saw my tray with the two breakfast burritos, I realized I made a huge mistake in ordering two as the burritos were huge and stuffed full of meat, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. By the time I finished the first burrito and made it four bites into the second burrito, I realized just how full I had become. In total, I spent $15.17 with tax for the chorizo and machaca breakfast burritos.

We went to California mexican food with a lot of high expectations, but the food did not excite us at all. The food was very dry, the bread used for the torta was almost burnt, the chicken filling was chewy…

OK, I had no idea this place was even there… Coming home late and noticed this 24 hour sign. Realized it said California and Mexican food and was like, let’s do this. Wow, their portions were amazing, food quality overall was pretty good. Ask for some lip ripper hot sauce, and they said hold on and came back with the good stuff. Will definitely be doing this again… Really got good vibes from the place.
