The space was beautiful and inviting. The GM was friendly and helpful. Bevan was a fantastic server. My picky eater finished her tacos before I could count to 10. We laughed and tried each other’s food and then shared some ice cream for dessert. We can’t wait to go back!

Hard pass! My table ordered food and drinks. The menus were wrinkled and dirty. The strawberry margarita did not taste like strawberries, the lemon margarita tasted like dishwater, and the lime margarita was a fourth the size of the other two. The food was uninspired, boring, and very domestic. The decor in the restaurant was my favorite part. Maybe my expectations were too high; afterall it is called Calaveras!

First off the place is gorgeous! The bar is adorable. The outdoor patio space is also super cute. I love all the flowers on the patio as well. The food is amazing and the drinks were really good too. First time there and I will definitely be back! Hands down this is the best Mexican ive had in Kansas City! I highly recommend the crunchy chicken enchiladas with verde sauce.

I want to like this place, I really do. They’re owned by the same people who own Smoke Brewing Co and that’s easily one of the best restaurants in Lee’s Summit. But this place comes up lacking in comparison. The food is really expensive for what it is. The tacos were only so-so – the chicken is surprisingly dry for a Smoke-owned restaurant. The burritos are better, but they’re expensive for a burrito. The ambiance is OK, nothing special. Where they really lack is in customer service. The customer service is laughably terrible. This is one of the only restaurants I’ve ever had to walk out of because I literally could not get service one night. We watched them wait on every party around us, even thought we arrived first. After about 10 minutes of being literally ignored while we watched later-arriving groups eat chips and salsa, we got up and left. I would not recommend this place until they get staff in there who know how to actually work in a restaurant. They should be better than this.

Went for dinner. Decor is great, sugar skull motif really works well. Had a cold fashion and standard old fashion. Both very delicious, calaveras old fashion is almost there but good if you like a little spicy tingle. Had the steak mole negro dish. Steak cooked perfect, chickpeas crispy. Mole sauce I’m use to is sweeter than what was on the dish. Still tasty though

I had a wonderful time here with my family. My daughters order was messed up which wasn’t a big issue because they corrected it but the general manager step in and gave us some drinks for the inconvenience which was really nice. The food was awesome and we set out on the deck which is beautiful at night. I would totally recommend this place.

Great food and drinks presented by knowledgeable staff. Tevaris was a master behind the bar. He knew his spirits and could provide origins of many of the tequilas and mezcals we tried. The drink selection was great and the pours were very affordable. We will be back!

AMAZING! Everything was perfect, from the stunning decor and atmosphere, to the friendly and attentive staff (especially Casey and Tina!), to the expertly crafted drinks and food. And the slushes on the patio My new favorite place!

The atmosphere and service are great. The house margarita was good. I ordered 3 tacos and my friend ordered the Black & White burrito. For what they cost, the tacos were lacking in filling/toppings. The tortillas were soggy on two of the tacos, and all 3 came out cold. My friend enjoyed the burrito a lot. However, for the cost of both of these dishes, I would think that they need to be served with sides. I want to like this place, but the menu either needs to be stepped up or prices need to be more reasonable.

This was our first time going and we will definitely go back. The only reason this is not 5 stars is because of how slow and inattentive the drink service was. Don’t get me wrong, the drinks were very good but I don’t enjoy having to look for someone to get an order for another round. The food was lights out awesome! I would absolutely recommend the street tacos but the chicken chimichanga was also very good. I will recommend Calaveras to anyone because this is an overall nice place. Great atmosphere. Little pricey but that won’t deter us from returning.
