If you’re in the mood for hot fresh quesa birria tacos this is the place to come in Brownsville. Will definitely be looking for more locations. Only thing is, they had some flies n gnats around a bit. Seems normal near s. Padre but I’d rather my food not have insects near it . Love that their lemonades have fruit on top of them but I think the sweet smell attracted the critters.

Absolutely loved this place!! We went back a couple of times. The ambience is great, the waiters are attentive, respectful and the quotes on their shirts made us giggle. Now to the food – EVERY DISH WAS FRESH & TASTY!!! You have to try the guac, queso and ceviche apps. The tacos and quesadillas are worth it; on different occasions we had the Baja tacos, ribeye tacos, chicken quesadilla and birria quesadilla – you can’t go wrong with any of these!! We didn’t try the Micheladas because we’re not a fan of the taste but the tamarindo lemonade and beer options are great. Would be nice if they added hard liquor to the menu, but that’s just preference. The place IS called “tacos & beer” after all. Btw, we went both early afternoon and at night, the later it gets the more packed so try getting there before 7p!

Charros especiales were fantastic. Al pastor was awesome. The pineapples in the pastor tacos brought it up a notch! Cochinita pibil tacos were fine, but I thought they could’ve had a tad more flavor. GREAT customer service! And all the food was brought to our table in a very timely manner. I was hugely impressed by the total experience. Will definitely be going back! Outstanding job, Brownsville Calaca’s! You all made us feel so welcome and your food was great!

It was pretty busy for a Saturday evening, we waited for about 20 minutes for a table. After we were seated outside they took a while to bring us a menu we had to ask someone where our waitress was at. It’s really upsetting to see when they seat people after you and attend them before us that were waiting for our waitress for 10 minutes.

Great place with lively music. Excellent customer service. The food is delicious. Does not matter what you order will not be disappointed. A must visit if your in Brownsville. Luckily they also have locations in South Padre Island, San Benito and in the future Pharr, Texas. The managers of this place are on top of everything. The employees greet you with a smile and seem genuinely happy to be at work.
