Calabash is the best seafood restaurant in town. They’ve updated the interior decor since I have last eaten there. Since I moved back to Mechanicsville, I wanted to visit. I had the crab cakes and they were delicious! My friend got shrimp scampi which really needed more garlic. My landlubber friend had the chicken parmesan and he cleaned the plate. Of course the hush puppies were great too. Reasonably priced, wonderful family run restaurant, friendly staff. Always a go-to place.

I can’t believe my husband and I have lived here for almost 6 years now and had never tried this place. We went on Saturday for the first time which happened to be all you can eat crab legs! So we jumped right in. You get all you can eat crab legs, with two sides and are also endless as well. Our waitress was the bomb. I wish we had paid more attention and got her name. She was super attentive, but relaxed and just made us feel at home. Complementary hush puppies with butter, tasted great. Italian salad dressing is nice and creamy rather than oil with some spices thrown in. The shrimp cocktail probably could pass on not because it didn’t taste great, but because it was $10 and you get 5 jumbo shrimp. My husband loved the sauce. The coleslaw and fries were great! Coleslaw tasted homemade. And the crab legs where everything we wanted them to be and more. ($56 per person for all you can eat.) Drinks were great. We just had the best time in a relaxed atmosphere and absolutely can not wait to go back. We’ll absolutely be regulars! I’m upset we’ve been missing out on this place for so long!

We had a very nice Tuesday night dinner. The pre-meal hush puppies were excellent! For dinner, large portions of catfish and shrimp.

We had our Valentines Dinner there last night. I was very disappointed. My broiled scallops had no taste and looked like it may have been boiled in butter and water.

The food was great. I got the regular fried shrimp platter ,baked potato and green beans. The food came out quickly and was nice and hot. The green beans was well seasoned and the Shrimp were very good. The waitress was nice and friendly. She done an excellent job.

We took my 83 year old mother for dinner at Calabash, her favorite restaurant. This was a real treat for her as she doesn’t leave her house much anymore. She ordered broiled flounder. The food was brought to our table minus my mother’s order. Waitress said that the kitchen didn’t like the way her order turned out and was going to fix it again. Twenty minutes later they brought her order. It wasn’t flounder but was some other type of fish. I cut into it, helping my mother, and it was uncooked. A manager was brought around to our table and while the waitress was awesome, the manager was not. We were all very disappointed by this visit to Calabash – I don’t think it’s my mother’s favorite anymore.

Several negative reviews had me concerned. But our party of 15 was very happy with the place. The hush puppy bowl was great. We had a terrific waitress who had fun with us and vice versa. So kept us plied with drinks and the broiled seafood platter was delicious. We would be happy to return.

Went there tonight with my aunt and wish I could have given a 1/4 of a star. We been going for at least 35 years and the waitress was rude and ruined our meal the food was good but the waitress was the worst. After being nasty to us then came to the table and complained about the tip. We went up front and she followed us running her mouth. She then told us do you know that her daddy own the restaurant.
