Never had spinach stew with no spinach .Food was disgusting, I never had spinach stew with zucchini and big chunks of onion. And fish tasted dirty because it had a strong after taste. It was my first time ordering and now it’s 30 minutes from work with traffic. But I did call them to let them know I was highly disappointed smh. I guess I’ll just take the loss of my $17

I had a taste for African food and decided to go to Calabash in Alexandria. I chose two entrees which was egusi soup with fish on the side of fufu. My second entree was grilled tilapia topped with peppers and onions with jollof rice. These meals were very fulfilling and delicious I wasn’t able to finish the meals in one setting. The experience and decor was up to par and just how I would’ve imagined it to be. The music gave it more of an African feel and soothing dining. This place is great for families or dates looking to have a romantic time. I would definitely recommend this place and be a returning guest!!!!

I have been wanting to try West African cuisine for the longest time and Calabash did not disappoint! I had the Fufu with Goat Peanut Butter Soup and my husband had Banku with Goat Light Pepper Soup. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The spices were balanced and not overpowering (this girl loves bold flavors). The customer service also hit it out of the park. The staff were very friendly and even showed us how to use the hand washing station and how to properly eat fufu and banku with our hands. We will definitely be back again.

I really enjoyed my Jollof Rice and Chicken. The spices were just right and not overpowering. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Friendly and attentive service. Nothing fancy, just a nice place to go to enjoy a good meal.

great environment and amazing food. tony was so welcoming and immediately knew what we wanted. i ordered the chicken peanut soup fufu and my friend ordered the spinach stew with side of fufu. tony helped us wash our hands right at the table before our meal! the food was piping hot and delicious. the soup had a slight kick to it and the stew was well seasoned and paired perfectly with fufu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Very good customer service to top up the amazing taste of the food. Enough parking available if you are driving. Dine-in and take out options available depending on what you are comfortable with. We called ahead to place the order and food was ready within the time we were advised. I recommend this restaurant if you want to taste authentic West African cuisine.

I went here with my bf and we got some recommendation from the staff. All of the food was so good even though it was a bit spicy for us but we guess it is because of the tropical food feature in the mean time the beer manufactured from Ghana was so good. We loved the Beef Suya and will definitely visit again to have it.
