Cajun Belle is a Southeast Texas-cuisine restaurant in the Des Moines, Iowa, metro area. We were founded in 2022 and offer a unique menu available through drive-thru at our storefront location in Johnston, Iowa, as well as catering and on-site event menu options. We provide authentic, fresh, Southeast Texas cuisine to the Central Iowa Metro and surrounding areas. Owner and head-chef Zack Hollier has been cooking this cuisine for literally his entire life – likes to call the Cajun Belle Gumbo his ‘childhood in a pot’. Cajun Belle is also more than just food, we strive to deliver the highest-quality of menu items by making all of the food items on-site daily and from scratch.

We ordered one of almost everything through the app. Ordering was easy. Picked up through drive through which was also easy. Food was hot, packed in a nice aluminum box, cheap, and DELICIOUS! I’m shocked at how few people were there. This place is amazing. The dough has a slight sweetness and is so pillowy soft. The andouille sausage is very mild but it still has a slight hint of spice (1 out of 10 for spice). I don’t like spice so it was perfect. There are spicier options on the menu for those who do. Fruit ones are messy and overstuffed. The dough is just a hair tougher on them. All of this is very intentional because they are just as delightful! Run here fast and get yours!

Everyone must try Cajun Belle! The kolaches are phenomenal! The owner is the nicest guy in the world. He came in when they were closed to make my order bc ordering system glitched and sent my order when they weren’t open. Not only was my order made but it was free and was given extra! Made our day!! I have all great things to say about Cajun Belle! The owner and head chef, Zack, is a down to earth southern gentleman. He treats everyone like family, holds the door open for folks, and truly loves to make sure noone is hungry. To make things even better, the food he and his team make is incredible. He has the best sausage and cheese kolaches that I’ve found in Iowa. Some colleagues and I had him deliver food to our networking group, and everything was warm, fresh, and even more delicious than we could have imagined. If you go to the farmers market, be sure to check out his station and grab a bite to eat! I will absolutely be a regular of theirs, and wish I could go daily! Oh, and they even have a drive thru to make things quick and easy for you!

We used Cajun Belle to cater breakfast for our 70 staff members and had team members with dietary restrictions. Zack provided us the most delicious bacon and sausage kolaches AND even experimented for us by making gluten-free vegan kolaches that were so good! These guys put in the work and have AWESOME attitudes that make it fun to work with them. 10 out of 10 recommend!

I ate Cajun Belle at the farmer’s market. My husband ordered the sausage kolache which he loved. The owner let me try the new menu item, a Boudin ball, which I had never heard of. It was delicious! And the jalapeño ranch it came with was awesome—nice and spicy. We two native Texans give two enthusiastic thumbs up!!

Had strawberry Kolache yesterday ❤️. We went back today and had some amazing File Gumbo w/shrimp and “bugs” . It was so good I did a dance in my kitchen during my first few bites. This place speaks to my soul. As my Momma was from Louisiana.
