Enchilada Style Burrito
Say hello to the enchilada-style Burrito. If you didn’t bring a knife and fork, that’s ok. We’ve got one for you. You’ll need it. A fresh, homemade tortilla is packed full with black or pinto beans, cilantro-lime rice, and your choice of protein. Sweet Pork Barbacoa
Welcome to the Home of the Original Sweet Pork Barbacoa! It’s quite possible our Sweet Pork could be outlawed for being too addictive. This delightful goodness is slow-simmered for hours in our secret spices until ready to tempt your taste buds. Make sure to stop by and try out this signature taste that made us famous! #TheObsessionIsReal #CafeRio
Creamy Tomatillo Dressing
It’s been said that our Creamy Tomatillo Dressing should be its own food group. Sure it’s great on our salads, but people love them on our tacos, quesadillas, burritos, chips, and even by the spoonful. Our Creamy Tomatillo is made from tomatillos, jalapenos, salsa fresca, cilantro, and a blend of flavor-packed spices. #TheObsessionIsReal #CafeRio
Chips & Queso
We know. Hot melted cheese is totally awesome. But our queso is made even more awesome by our mix of Mexican peppers and secret spices. Better get extra chips! #TheObsessionIsReal #CafeRio

So SLOW. So VERY SLOW and they didn’t need to be. This was at 2pm, and there was barely anyone when I walked in. Third in line, but we stacked up over the 20 minutes until there were ten-plus waiting while one person prepared food and everyone else did whatever. Food was good, as always, but so disappointed the staff didn’t step up to serve their customers.

Cafe Rio has really gone downhill since being bought out a few years back. That said, this location is better just because of the cool location. The restaurant is very well designed and has some cool seating options. The staff are friendly.

The pick up process is not ideal here since you have to go to the garage or really find a not ideal parking spot nearby. The location itself is ideal as it is city center and given that it is a newer addition to the chain it’s a really nice location.

Always one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. Steak burrito, enchilada style with hotter sauce!

Super basic nachos. High price for chips, cheese, and beans. They nickel and dime you on the additions that make it a real meal… and by nickel and dime I mean $1 for every addition. Do yourself a favor and eat in one of the many other more affordable and delicious spots available to you. The staff was just taking in Spanish about what they’re going to do later and didn’t answer my question as if she didn’t understand me.

We were new to Cafe Rio Mexican Grill and our first time to the Salt Lake City area. We were introduced to Cafe Rio by our cousins and let me tell you it was delicious. We have something similar to that down in Texas but can wait to see if they will move to the San Antonio area. We will wait and see. We plan on being back up in a couple years in 2026 to see the grand opening. See you then

Food is terrific and very clean. I don’t know if the language barrier adds to the authenticity of a mall food court Mexican restaurant, but it was one of the rare instances of fast food that was genuinely difficult to place an order. They were very nice though.

I got the salad with the limited Pollo Asado with it. I love how fresh the food is. The place is clean as a whistle and the workers are very quick and attentive.

Don’t understand the negative reviews, I guess they came on a bad day. The food is fresh and flavorful with lots of options. The ingredients are made fresh right here, and the prices are reasonable. Service is friendly and the place is clean and pleasant!
