Café Mercato, located in Denver, is a brand-new modern Italian restaurant, owned and operated by Giancarlo Macchiarella of Locanda del Borgo.
Mercato’s light and airy atmosphere and design permeates throughout the modern space. With a large open kitchen and large wine “library”, you will feel right at home sipping on a glass of select wine while watching the chefs create your meal.

The food was delicious. Service was lovely. But the portions for the price were underwhelming. I may be a purist but no Italian restaurant should be charging $6 for a few tiny slices of bread and olive oil. We split a salad and pasta dish between 2 people and expected a bit more food for what we were paying. Like I said, all very delicious though!

Have been here twice and all of the food has been delicious. First time we went the service was on the slow side but we received our appetizers and drinks within a reasonable time. Second time we dined (this week), the poor service unfortunately detracted from the meal. We were not seen for the first 10 minutes after being seated and did not receive our appetizer until about 45 minutes after ordering it. Hiring more staff would potentially help make an otherwise great restaurant better!

The meatballs! You have to try this place. Went during lunch and they did have a lunch menu. It was very quiet in the restaurant and our server was very good. Everyone at the table said their food was delicious, but the homemade meatballs in the gravy were to die for. I will definitely have to come back during dinner time.

I’ve been in several times so I wish I’d written a review sooner! The food and service at this restaurant are equally exceptional. The pasta is fresh and delicious – the eggplant dishes are my favorites but I really enjoy everything I’ve had so far. The hostess and server (Jean and Aliyah) during lunches are so incredibly kind and while the food is wonderful, the service keeps me coming back (I have experience as a personal chef and know how to make some of these dishes at home, although there’s just something about the atmosphere that makes everything taste better). Please thank your staff for the amazing experiences they help to create – your kindness is valued. This is one of my favorite neighborhood spots to eat and I’ll definitely be back! (PS-please add a vegetarian/seafood dish with cream sauce for lunch time, I don’t always get the chance to come here for dinner.)
