When Elliott Moss and Meherwan Irani came together to open Buxton Hall Barbecue, the fried chicken sandwich stole the hearts of many, including the editors of Bon Appetit Magazine, who named it the best fried chicken sandwich in the country. Ever since then we’ve had the dream of giving that beloved sandwich its own restaurant.For our first chicken palace, we are very excited to be a part of the rebirth of the S&W Market – a building that has been an architectural icon in Asheville since the 20s. We hope this is just the beginning of spreading little chicken palaces wherever the desire for delicious fried chicken sandwiches may be.

Visited Buxton chicken palace on Thursday February 16th. First thing is the S&W Food hall is an amazing place. It’s so beautiful inside and everything food vendor inside have amazing food. The service at Buxton was on point . The gentleman behind the counter was awesome and very inviting. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and the original chicken sandwich. Both were amazing. One of the best chicken sandwiches that I’ve had. The fries were just as amazing. Well seasoned ,crispy and just delicious. The homemade cookies were really good as well. Overall service at the location is what stood out the most. Thank you

Ordered the basic and the nashville. The basic has a unique taste that I can appreciate. Almost home made kinda tasting. The Nashville, left me wanting more. Maybe more sauce or more spiciness. Not sure if they are a make to order place but it took a long minute to get the food. I love supporting local vendors when I travel. Would still recommend to anyone passing through.

I enjoyed my chicken sandwich here. The chicken was cooked perfectly; not dried out in the slightest. My critique is that while it was cooked perfectly, it was lacking in flavor. I could taste everything in the sandwich except the chicken. Still a good lunch but it could be better.

The chicken sandwich was fantastic the chefs did a great job. The fries looked great but unfortunately we’re laking in seasoning. However, the customer service was terrible. I didn’t catch the girls name on the register but she had red hair and a nose piercing and was incredibly rude. She took my order down wrong, was practically yelling at me, and had an obvious attitude as well as a rude manner. Food was great but the service was atrocious.

Oh man! Waffle fries- Check! Chicken Burger – Check! Chicken bites- check! Tasty- Check! The chicken burger was one of the best I’ve eaten. Great spicy seasoning , crunch and like a thousand island meets Mayo sort of lettuce sauce slathered on. Slice of cheese- perfect bite. The waffles fries were one of my favorites as well. The same spicy seasoned dusting on the chicken burger was on the waffle fries- only negative thing……. Not enough fries! Soooooooo good!! Definitely a place to eat at! The cherry bourbon slushie- probably could have done without it…. But overall food- 2 thumbs up!

Hands down, the best chicken sandwich (and nugs!). And that palace sauce *chef’s kiss* Not the cheapest ($15 for the chicken sandwich, fries and drink combo and $7 for just the nuggets), but the serving is filling and tasty. I haven’t tried any other sauce because I always go for the palace sauce
