The food seemed authentic from everything that I know about Ethiopian cuisine (which is limited). The injera was spongey and sour as I had heard, and I enjoyed the cold lentil salad that comes with every entree. The new-to-me location on Willy Street felt warm and welcoming with its design. Bright colors and interesting decor. I wish the customer service matched the passion for the design of the atmosphere and embodied more of that idea of togetherness/family that Ethiopian food seems to encourage with shared platters that everyone eats from. Service was curt and rude at times. We may have been a more difficult group with individuals that have never eaten this type of food and probably won’t again; however, it would have been nice to have been ‘killed with kindness’ anyway. Pictured is the coconut chicken curry with injera. Not my favorite coconut chicken curry I’ve ever had but I ate all of it.

Buraka is a great Ethiopian restaurant in Madison. Great food and drinks. They have a nice outdoor patio.

Low key clean restaurant with tasty Ethiopian food in Madison’s Willy St. neighborhood. Menu has a few cross-African dishes including a few uncommon ones like the duck tenders – which I’ve never seen before. Consensus was they were tasty and the sauce and just a little delicious heat.

Great food!! I definitely recommend it! We cleaned our plates! Haha

I got the dorowot to go and it was good! The injera is humongous, but the chicken stew portion isn’t, so I thought that was a bit disproportional. I like that they give you sour cream and lentil salad on the side–the sour cream definitely freshens up the dish when you’re about halfway through. The lentil salad was a nice refreshing addition and palate cleanser.

Wonderful Ethiopian food, and the patio out back in nice weather makes for a fantastic place to enjoy food and conversation. We got several items served up family-style, and it was excellent. The price is fair for the amount of food you get, the server was pleasant and professional, and I always enjoy supporting local establishments. Highly recommended!

TL;DR The staff are out of this world, and I would genuinely leave six stars if I could. I’ve never had an experience like this.

Outstandingly unique and delicious! Service and food were both extraordinary! Will definitely be adding Buraka to our list of favorites to revisit in the future! ♥️

Duck tenders were very good and the samosa. The chicken peanut curry had barely any chicken, was disappointed. Left hungry unfortunately. It’s okay, not bad, not great. Probably wouldn’t go back. Interior is very cute and cozy. Lentil salad that came with entrees was freshing.
