So one of my favorite foods in the whole wide world is pizza. I love a good slice that carries a good taste with the perfect ratio of cheese to sauce. Modern-day pizza has taken this Italian staple and turned it around to their liking and twist on things. Ie. Such as a Detroit style. I came to Buddy’s, and I wasn’t a fan. For 3 boxes of 8 squares, almost $100 is absolute madness. I ordered white pizza with beef, a veggie pizza with few toppings, and a meat lovers. Now, for the take on style, I don’t really understand the craze of having a slightly overdone cheesy crust. But to each its own. I’ve just been spoiled by my Brooklyn Style wooden oven pizza slices. If you’re ever in the city, head out to Lucalli. It’ll be the best trip you’ll make in all of New York.

The service here is great. We have been multiple times and each trip the staff has been kind, quick, and accommodating. The food is American Italian. The pizza is a unique spin on Detroit style with caramelized edges and is thick, but not as thick as Jets. The interior is clean and well maintained. The price is I bit more than traditional pizza joints. Their children’s meals are certainly worth the price.

Being Detroit natives, my sisters and I grew up eating Buddy’s pizza. So when we heard that a new location would be opening in all of our’s college town, we were stoked. While visiting for the weekend we decided to order Buddy’s through Doordash. One of the two pizzas was supposed to be free of meat and was full of ham and pepperoni. Both my sisters are vegetarian and have been for years. We called and spoke with one of the managers, Chris who handled the situation very well and offered to not only remake the pizza the next day but also to add a free appetizer (they were just about to close). I went back up there today and the nice girl in carryout said there still was a balance after the food. Which was not what Chris and my sister discussed last night. We were told we would get the pizza and appetizer on the house because it was their mistake. Chris was extremely rude, he didn’t even say hello to me after I greeted him. Instead of explaining it to me he completely blew me off and when I told him to “have a good one” he laughed. We are so very disappointed in this establishment as we have never experienced such disrespect at any other Buddy’s we’ve been to.

We really liked Buddies Detroit Style Pizza. It has a crunchy yet doughy deep dish crust and many toppings to choose from. Lots of different specialty pizzas and make your own options too. Personally, the crust feels pre-made with topping added and then cooked, and it could use more sauce, but those are personal opinions. Everyone likes their pizza a littl different, right? The bar as many options including lots of Michigan-based craft brews! So head to Buddies where the pizza is good and the atmosphere and wait staff are phenomenal! Enjoy!

Delish! We were bummed they closed the Westside of Lansing location. So we felt compelled to support the business. We love their antipasto, meatballs with marinara, super 6 mile with old world pepperoni added and thin crust Greentown plus chicken. It was delicious as usual. We always say we will share a 4 square but end up getting our own anyway. So many different options to choose from you’ll never get bored. My Detroit born Hubby loves this place the most for pizza!

We’ve ordered takeout here several times since opening and we have never been disappointed. The service is always great, the employees are attentive, and the food is always incredible. We typically order pizza and cheese bread. The menu has something for everyone which is also nice.

This was my first time in Michigan and I heard a lot about buddy’s pizza so of course I had to try it. I also found out that this location recently opened so we did not dine in. The wait time was over an hour!! All I can say is that the crust was a bit soggy, I expected it to be crispy. The toppings, cheese and sauce were definitely fresh. I honestly enjoyed their wings much more. The wings were very fresh and crispy – but not too crispy. I am also not a fan of buffalo sauce but their Buffalo sauce was very delicious. If you’re in Michigan try it for yourself.
