For the hype of this place, I don’t think it lives up to the standard.

Some of the best fried seafood I have had. The french fries were pretty good too. Awesome dining area to include pet friendly. The awesome thing about this place is BYOB. Recommend.

Don’t recommend this place. Too pricey for what you get. We got a baked haddock plate for $25, which I think is very expensive. The plate was small with only a few fries. Really disappointed. You have to wait outside for your order. There were a few black hairs on my order also! Disgusting! The kitchen staff doesn’t wear any hair nets. The only good thing I can say is that the view on the deck is nice and that the haddock tasted good.

The quintessential New England seafood shack. Some of the more prepared foods are just okay (the chowders, cakes, etc) but the simple fried seafood dishes are top notch. Super fresh, very lightly dusted in breading, and flash fried so they’re not greasy or heavy. Bring cash and expect to wait for a while, especially in the summer.

We visited on a Monday evening, thinking there would be fewer customers, but nope. They were slammed.

A trip home to New England is never complete without me stopping at Brown’s. No-frills, family-run, order-at-the-counter goodness. Everything is consistently delicious. It has to be as native New Englanders would settle for nothing less. There is a reason this place has been operating since 1950 and can stay open year round: it’s darn good. Fried clams were delish. Scallops were amazing. Fries were “wicked awesome” – perfect crunch. I look forward to returning again and again. Highly recommended.

Browns went down hill significantly through the years. 25 dollars for a lobster roll that was 50% mayo paprika and lettuce. Got a clam cake with it as well which was very bitter and overcooked. $35 dollars for this meal which I would have been okay with if it wasn’t awful.

This place is the real deal. Family owned, no-frills, all-about-the-food kind of place! We were there in the off season, as soon as they opened, so we walked right in and ordered, our food came out quickly, and we had no problem finding a seat. You can tell that during the summer this place is a mad house. It’s right on a beautiful cove so the view is lovely and you can sit outside or inside, all tables are family style. Menu is really extensive (even if you have someone who doesn’t like seafood) and fairly priced for what you get. You can also get seafood, like lobster and clams, uncooked, to go. We got the lobster roll, haddock sandwich, clam strips, calamari, shrimp cocktail, and chowder. Every single thing was delicious! This place is an institution and we were happy it lived up to the hype. Definitely recommend
