The shrimp and grits were wayy too sweet, and had too much of some herb either thyme or something like that, too much sauce and not enough grits. The grits were barely warm. We ordered tea and it tasted like it was old. The gulf seafood salad was great husband said. The onion rings tasted good but from the temperature of them it seemed like they had been precooked.

We used Google Maps to find a local lunch spot while visiting Marksville. We were very impressed. The restaurant has been open 11 years, a local treasure and named appropriately. Our lunch was fabulous! We will be back next visit to the area.

The food at Brown Bag is always outstanding! I have tried most of the items on the menu over the years and they’re all great! My favorites are the Shrimp & Grits or the Shrimp and Crab Stuffed Avocado. Trent and the staff are all wonderful and accommodating, as well 🙂

We really enjoy dining here. We had the Gulf Seafood salad. It was fresh and seasoned perfectly and it wasn’t drowned with dressing. Instead a beautiful homemade roumalaude was drizzled over it adding to the overall taste and a amazing presentation. They have a modest but very tasteful wine list and cocktails. The atmosphere was casual quite and very friendly. I do plan to go back soon. Especially to see how the menu will change.

This place was great!!! I am leaving now super satisfied. It was priced appropriately for the style of food and atmosphere. I also talked to the owner and he is a great person as well to take a few minutes and ask you himself how it was and thanking people for coming. Great place for Lunch as well.

Holy Cow, Batman! This is a GREAT little restaurant! This was the first time here for my wife and myself; it will NOT be the last. My wife wasn’t very hungry so she just got a potato side dish for her meal. It was wonderful. I’m a hamburger lover so I got the Cowboy Burger. Smoked Gouda cheese with chili and barbeque sauce, and I added bacon. My wife asked me how it was and I asked her if using the word “orgasmic” was a good enough answer. The prices aren’t cheap here but the quality of the food justifies the price. You WILL NOT be disappointed here.

Amazing food. In a world where most of the food we eat is processed and robbed of all taste brown bag stands out as one the best meals I’ve ever had. I would highly recommend the Shrimp Tasso and Grits!!! The service was top notch, the atmosphere was welcoming yet modern without being overdone. The food was fresh and had flavor and tasted amazing. Anyone who can appreciate a good meal when they have one needs to visit Brown Bag!

Heard so much about this place so we decided to try it today. Called in our order to go since we couldn’t find a parking spot. Ordered the 2 Seafood Salads to go. Very disappointed! They spent more time and money on the box it came in than the quality and quantity of food. The lettuce was soggy, barely any seafood and a small, soggy soft shell crab on top. The amount of salad for the price was ridiculous. $37 for 2 very very small salads. The size was a Little more than a side salad. I certainly don’t mind spending money for good food. This place is over priced and food was disappointing.
