We had the best time at Brood! Our server was amazing, the drinks were great, and the food was incredible! I highly recommend the chicken schnitzel, lobster pasta, and mussels. They also have many gluten free options, including the chicken schnitzel!

Brood is simply the best! From service to drinks to food to atmosphere, you can’t go wrong. With an exquisite menu, you are able to try something that’s comforting or new to you. We went for opening night and will DEFINITELY be back many times while in town. This is a great place for date night or a parents night out! I suggest the short ribs, chicken schnitzel!

I had the El Guason drink, the potato soup with truffle oil and fried onions, honey glazed salmon with chill curry rice salad and for dessert Creme Brulee (not pictured). We had a pleasant experience and definitely will go back to try more of the menu items.

Internationally known chef Ted Pofelt, and veteran restaurateur Crenshaw Reed are co-owners and a power team. Brood has an amazing space (The former Blue Apron!), and very well-trained staff. The potato soup was yummy and super fresh. The braised beef short ribs were beyond amazing. My wife ordered the lobster pasta, and I snuck four bites — subtle flavors and well-executed. Generous portions. Adult beverages range in price from $3 for an American beer to $54 for their best red wine. Caesar salads were delicious and showed the difference between what a chef creates vs. what a chain serves. No day old romaine and “goopy” Sam’s Club dressing at Brood. Many GF options. A perfect place to go on a date or a couple’s fun night. High in quality and experience and in the moderate price range, which is a winning combo.

As a fellow industry member….all I can say is WOW! I can honestly say with every ounce of my being this was hands down the best meal and service I have had at a restaurant in the Roanoke area! Hats off to the chefs and staff! The entire table was literally planning out the next time we were coming back! The food hit every mark and the drinks were delicious! It is a very intimate and cozy atmosphere. And again…the FOOD, I can’t tell you enough how amazing the food is!!! And triple points for the menu being safe for those with wheat or gluten allergies! It is hard for us to find great food at restaurants without having to have an Eppi pen ready to use and majority of the menu was safe for me! There aren’t very many places that will leave you speechless after a meal (in the best way possible) but this meal left me with absolutely no complaints!

I have eaten at some of the finest restaurants across the country in my travels and I have to say, Brood is on par with the best there is. The food was absolutely exquisite. The staff are beyond professional and polite, and the service is top notch!! After 1 visit, this restaurant is immediately at the top of my list of GO TO restaurants. None better in Roanoke/Salem!!

A nice little quaint restaurant that took over a previous long standing restaurant. A nice variety of appetizers and entrees. Between the four of us, everything was spot on. Drinks were fantastic, the appetizers were tasty and our dinners were excellent. The bartender and the whole staff were off the charts FANTASTIC!

We ate at Brood on 29 July. There was a large group, 10 or 12, they were extremely loud, so much so that we might as well had been sitting with them because we heard everything they said. So ,1 star for atmosphere. Our server was very nice and spot on with the pace of the meals, so 5 stars for service. The house made potato chips and dip and the wedge salad were very good. But the short ribs were just plain awful. For starters the food was served to us at room temperature, ugh. The garlic mashed potatoes were not only under seasoned but gluey and unedible. The broccoli, while I appreciate my broccoli to have some bite, I do prefer it to be more than splashed with hot water. It might was well have been raw. The short ribs were tough, under seasoned, and under sauced. They needed at least another hour of braising to have been tender. Maybe our expectations were too high, maybe the kitchen was having an off night. Or maybe it was the lateness that we ate there, we had an 8:30 reservation which isn’t that late considering the posted hours state they close at 11. Our first dining experience with Brood will also be our last, first impressions are everything.

I had the chicken schnitzel accompanied by greens and grits. All of them were excellent! The location is an old building that is so charming.

Ate dinner here tonight…totally amazing!!! Congrats to you all for absolutely knocking it out of the park, that was the best meal I’ve had around here in a while…a phenomenal bar and wait staff and even better food coming out of the kitchen. The El Guason tequila cocktail was a perfect start, the Old Bay Buffalo Rib appetizer was just so delicious and the Chicken Schnitzel was even better, I’m already thinking about what I want to have on my next visit!!! Make reservations and go check it out as soon as you can, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!!!
