I stopped here for some food on an early Wednesday afternoon. The entrance to this restaurant is through the hotel it is attached to. Wasn’t too busy at the time.

What a delight! We ended up here almost by accident, and I can’t wait until we are dining in Freeport again! The food is excellent, our server was personable and funny, and the outdoor patio is lovely. We ordered the gazpacho, Buffalo cauliflower, pork loin, and lobster roll. And whatever you do, don’t leave without trying the made to order chocolate chip cookie and homemade ice cream!

Wonderful service. My cocktail of choice was not on the menu. When I asked, the server was not familiar with it. But the bartender looked it up and made one for me. It was delicious. Apricot Stone Sour.

Dug the fish n chips. World class. Batter dipped and fried with skill. Fries are crisp n proper. Malt vinegar and tartar offered.

We had a great experience at Broad Arrow! The food was delicious and our waiter was great. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for some small town fare.

We decided to make our first visit to Broad Arrow to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary and had the best lunch ever. We had oven roasted muscles, grilled scallops, and duck breast. Be sure to dip your bread in the muscle broth, it is addictive. Everything was prepared to perfection and the side dish was as delicious as the main. Dessert was a blueberry and peach crisp that was to die for. I honestly can’t say that I’ve had a better meal. The decor is rustic outdoors which is perfect for Maine. The tavern has a fireplace in the middle of the room and a wood-fired oven in the kitchen making the atmosphere delightful. Our server was friendly and attentive considering we came in at the tail end of a busy lunch crowd. I will definitely visit again the next time I’m headed to LL Bean down the street.

So many changes and to the detriment of of what was once one of my favorite places. Long standing dishes that have been on the menu for 18 years (for good reason), missing. No pizza, no award winning lobster stew, no rotisserie chickens, the Maine meal. The quality seemed lesser too. In 18 years of eating there I’ve never had a misstep in a meal. Everything except the dessert was mediocre. Where was the fresh baked bread that is normally made daily? I also noticed that gone are any mentions on site or in-person of their locally sourced food.

This was one of my favorite stops in Maine. Their clam chowder used to be amazing. I’ve never had a bad meal there…until now. The Broad Arrow Tavern, apparently in response to the hotel being sold to a hotel conglomerate, has changed the menu significantly. I was just here a few months ago, and it was still great. Several items are no longer available and the flavor has been removed from others. The clam chowder, a former can’t miss item, has a new formulation and it’s not good. The new chowder (I’ve omitted the word clam because I can no longer detect the ingredient) is bland and flavorless. The hush puppy placed on top was interesting, but I would’ve preferred clams. The Finn and Haddie was terrible. I did not get the crispy herb salad that was described on the menu, just a piece of cod over a flavorless mush with a few deep fried artichoke hearts.

The new ownership has changed what was once a local mainstay to a bland, boring iteration of the same lousy restaurant you would find in any hotel. We live next door, and this used to be our go to place for a good meal, great atmosphere and good service. The service is still good, they have the same wonderful staff. My meal was lukewarm and bland, and all the menu options seemed like half hearted attempts at ‘fine dining.’ Many of the decor items that had lent the space its charm were also gone, and the energy it once had as a local gathering spot was no longer there, as I think their new menu and direction has alienated many of their regulars.

Cool place. Reminds you of a college town in the movies. Our food and service were good.
