I ordered the jumbo shrimp, a $31 meal and, I kid you not, it had a mere 4 shrimp on it. And it wasn’t like they were huge. A little bigger than average maybe, but that’s it. And they weren’t even that good. They weren’t horrible, but they weren’t great either. It did come on quinoa with sauce which was pretty good, but definitely not worth $30 dollars. For that much money, I expect a generous portion of excellent food. On top of this, when we first say down, the music was so loud we couldn’t even have a conversation while sitting right next to each other. We said something to the server, who said he’d talk to the manager. Eventually it did get quieter, but it took a bit. This place isn’t worth the ridiculous prices and the loud music would make it unpleasant even if the food was free.

We’ve been to the River House several times since they reopened last month, every time it was fantastic!! The oysters and lobster rolls are awesome….you can’t beat great food, great drinks while enjoying the best water views in Monmouth County!! Very much looking forward to them completing the renovations and expanding their menu. In the mean time we’ll continue to enjoy everything this restaurant has to offer.

The only good thing I can say is the view. We sat for 7 minutes before being acknowledged. Menu is slight and overpriced. As we were sipping on our overpriced cocktails the manager comes over and insinuates I might have vodka in my water bottle. WHAT??? A purchased cocktail is sitting in front of me. I am in my 60’s and don’t need to sneak vodka. Very pretentious and the service and appearance of staff does not justify it. Will not go back or recommend.

Nice to see them open again, but I hope when their kitchen opens they step up their game. We were made aware of the limited menu when we made reservations so we checked it out and we all found something we would order. After we ordered, complimentary brushetta was brought to the table, probably the highlight of the meal. The “sandwhiches” were to come with “chips” and pasta salad. The chips wound up being plantain chips….eh. The macaroni salad looked and tasted like the kind you would buy in a 1lb container at your local supermarket. The turkey wraps were very good. The turkey was very fresh. However, the $28 lobster rolls were not at all worth it. We have had food truck lobsters rolls that were much better and half the price. I get it, you’re trying to squeeze in the last of the summer season and compete with your “neighbors,” but for us, the meal fell short of our expectations. Hope things improve when you open fully!

This place has always been great, but was just here on Father’s day and had an awful experience. We ordered $12 cocktails, my dad’s was not great but mine was undrinkable, like lemon juice and water and could not taste any bourbon. I asked to replace it with a beer, which was dealth with no problem. We got the calamari and it was a much smaller portion than we’ve had on previous occasions and tasted like the frying oil had not been changed in a while… also there was no tomato compote as advertised, just regular marinara. I ordered the jumbo shrimp which was a ridiculous $31 to begin with, and when it came out there were FOUR not-so-jumbo shrimp with a strange tasteless mystery sauce. I had asked for extra veggies instead of quinoa, and was given a small portion of bland zucchini. I asked again for the extra side of vegetables, and was given a few more slices of undercooked zucchini. This meal was sooooo far from $31 quality. If it wasn’t for the awesome atmosphere, good service, and view I would never come back. In the future it will only be for a glass of wine or beer.

Amazing time we spend at Brielle river house. We went there for dinner for my boyfriends birthday. The service was excellent and the cocktails were delicious, and I definitely recommend the lobster rolls. The views definitely added to the experience as well :). All in all We’ll definitely go back. I have always been a fan of the River House but after being closed for 3 years, I cannot figure out why they are not done with their renovations. Be prepared, there is no hot food because they do not have a permit for a working kitchen. They will offer you Linguine with Claims/Scallops/Shrimp for $42 (over priced for being cooked on a hot plate). They want to have the support of the community, they need to reevaluate their cold food prices and be honest about their kitchen being closed. Disappointing $400 meal for 4 people.

We have been bringing boats north and south for years. Been waiting Brielle River House to open for three years. We departed Falmouth MA for South because we noticed it was finally open. Docked up at Hoffmans Marina, we love them. Showered up excited to check out the River House for dinner after a long day on the water. Walked to the River House excited for diner and crickets ……

Really disappointing menu selection. No Lobster, only tuna and very limited menu. Highlight was our server Julie and host Paul. Pricing was high. 3 shrimp $21?? Tuna tarter delicious.
