Had brunch this morning and kind of surprised at all of the 4-star reviews. We were headed to the Sunday Market on 4th street in Park Slope and tried to get a reservation at Stone Park Café, but they were booked solid. Brasserie Le Mistral, only 2 blocks away was near empty, despite all of the 4-star reviews, and my experience may be an indicator. My brunch companion had a $24 burger, which was very good, and seems to be the going rate for premium burgers these days. It was very good, but not going to compete with the $26 burger at Emmy Squared a few blocks away, or Redhook Tavern, and many of Brooklyn’s greatest. It was good, not amazing.

This place is a true park slope gem. I believe a new owner came in, and since, the place is a truly wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Every time my fiancé and I walk by we are so delighted with the beautiful atmosphere. We come here mainly for brunch on the weekends and it’s always delicious and the service is great. They even have live jazz on Sunday afternoons. The owner/manager is one of the nicest we’ve ever experienced. Very caring and wants to make sure you have a wonderful experience. The atmosphere takes me straight to Europe, and what is better than a French cafe right in the heart of park slope? 🙂

A sad shadow of its former self. After reopening, seemingly under new ownership and definitely under new management, this restaurant has gone way downhill. The food, when they have it, is still very good. But don’t sit down before they tell you what they don’t have. On a Friday evening they had no fish, no pate (keep in mind this is a French restaurant) and no green salad. How can a restaurant that has grocery stores within a couple blocks run out of green salad?

What a lovely place with live music! The service is excellent, our waitress was very attentive. The eggs benedict we’re cooked perfectly, the hollandaise was so good, with a nice subtle lemony taste. The croque madame was great but heavy on the ham. Everyone at our table loved their entry. However, we ordered a crepe to share and I would not get it again. The crepe was a little too thick and bland. I expected the chocolate inside but it was just a drizzle on top. I am looking forward to coming back here for dinner!

Hidden gem. One of the best restaurants in the Slope and maybe the best French restaurant in Brooklyn. Have been a few times for brunch and dinner, food is consistently stellar and the space is lovely as well. Deserves way more attention than it gets.

I’ve been here several times and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is high energy yet sophisticated, romantic yet inclusive The live music adds to an authentic ambiance of a French bistro. I love the new renovations with touches that make you feel like you are sitting in the Moulin Rouge. The food is among the best for quality prepared food you’ll get in the Park Slope neighborhood. There is an incredible wine selection as well. Highly recommended.

We had the pate, couscous salad, and french onion soup. My husband couldn’t finish the paté and the manager on duty asked if he wanted to pack it up. We said we were full and wanted to save room for more food. He gave us a smirking attitude and said “all right… its homemade” then left.

My first time here and the food was amazing! The onion soup was savory and delicious. I ordered the duck breast and black rice dish to say I had to stop myself from licking the dish is an understatement it was so good. My friend ordered the burger and fries. The fries were well seasoned and crispy and the burger perfectly executed. The waiter John was terrific! He was attentive and accommodating. The owner was in hand overseeing everything and supporting his staff. I will definitely be returning to try the the rest of the menu.
