I don’t even know where to begin. This is an absolute 6 star sensation. The sheer shame that this establishment doesn’t have a Michelin star is abhorrent. Chef Richard (even tho he literally does everything, from serving, bussing, cooking, prepping) is a very unique person. Truly awesome food, I got the Etouffe and my friend got the jumbalaya. Both excellent. Frog legs are a great appetizer. Reservations encouraged! He does this solo, so he might not be able to handle a walk in. We got lucky, the chef was a fun guy to just chat with, and he walked us through the history of how he got there. There was nothing but special from beginning to end. I will come back to Vermont for this restaurant alone if I have to 🙂

Incredible food served and cooked well by Chef Richard. Booked it for a birthday celebration for my friend and I and we enjoyed a great meal! Two of my friends were vegetarian and he cooked up tofu jambalaya for them, which was delicious. Very accommodating

What a fabulous place!! We went for dinner and were thrilled at the care and thoughtful preparation of our dishes…not overly salted like many restaurants. The food was flavorful and carefully prepared. We could taste each ingredient due to the care taken in its preparation. We returned two days later again for dinner. What a gem this place is. The owner is a tale ted chef who loves his job. It shows. We ordered the seafood jambalaya, the regular jambalaya, the court bouillon, étouffée, pecan pie, collard greens, flank steak…

This place is such a hidden gem. The owner is friendly and he cooked us a great meal. It is a very small (and well-decorated) space and he does all the work himself, so reservations are generally a good idea, though we didn’t have an issue on a Monday night. Check it out!

Awesome hidden gem in downtown Burlington, chef Richard created a small rustic dining experience and is clearly very passionate about his food. The flank steak is tender and extremely flavorful, the catfish entree is awesome as well- slightly spicy with a sweet salsa, the red beans and rice are also standout. They round out the meal nicely and are well seasoned as well. Nothing on the plate lacks flavor! Also Save room for desert, the sweet potato maple cheesecake is literally to die for.

This is such a great cozy restaurant! The atmosphere is wonderful and the food was fantastic. The chef was very friendly and I can not overstate how tasty the crab cakes were, definitely the best I’ve ever had. We ordered the Roasted Stuffed Pork Shoulder and Jambalaya, both of which were seasoned wonderfully, and a special shout-out to the Coleslaw. This restaurant is now a “must-go” for me when visiting Burlington.

Best restaurant in Burlington hands down. Richard is the nicest host and cooks some of the best cajun food I have ever had seafood jambalaya and Poboy is a must! Get the pie too! Super cozy and friendly vibe.

I’m embarassed to confess this is my first Google review as I have relied so heavily on them for so long… but this place made me do it! Outstanding food, service and ambience, unlike any other restaurant in town (or anywhere else for that matter). The chef/owner/front of house/back of house/true one-man-operator is a marvel. We ended up peppering him with questions once the other customers left and we learned so much! His work ethic is truly unmatched. We will be back in short order (and will call ahead—makes a difference for him).
