This Boston Market is near our home and used to be one of our favorite places. Great food, great staff. It closed during Covid, the sign disappeared. About a year went by, the sign came back, but the place was still closed for at least 6 more months.

I don’t usually write reviews but the service today was exceptional for a Boston Market! I assume he was the manager, made a couple exceptions for me today with doing two flavors for my 3pc dark meat meal, which I chose Perri perri & roasted garlic & herb, going with his suggestion, which usually they’re not allowed to do; and also letting me have ciabatta bread instead of the corn bread which I despise here – even providing an entire half roll of the bread! He even provided the suggestion to put gravy on top of the stuffing which is a game changer, I never tried BM’s stuffing much less with gravy so it was really good!

Saw that it had reopened after being closed for months. Decided to stop by for lunch and see what I thought of the “new” place since we’d been regular customers previously to its closing. The interior looks the same, however, the menu items have changed. I was glad to see that I could try some of their new items being offered. Well, my enthusiasm dwindled quickly after I was told 3 times that they didn’t have the item I was requesting. So I settled on a traditional 1/2 chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, creamed spinach and a cornbread mini muffin. First surprise came when paying for the meal and I could see the confused look on the clerk’s face when a previous customer was talking about the restaurant finally reopening. I continued the comment and then he asked me if the store had been there before and whether it’d reopened etc. Evidently he had no idea of the history of this restaurant since he’d previously worked at a different BM. As I was paying for my meal, my order arrived in a small disposable plastic plate with separate compartments and wrapped plastic knife/fork. On my plate was the tiniest 1/2 chicken (which was juicy and tender) I’ve ever seen as well as 1/2 cup of potatoes (bland and tasted like it came from a box of instant potatoes) and creamed spinach (tasted like bland watered down chopped spinach). The tiny cornbread muffin was dry and hard. So the food is not as good as before and the portions are definitely smaller. The sense I got was it’s opened way too early and they’re working out the details but the impression they’re leaving is unless they get their act together, they’ll be closing again soon.

We were incredibly excited to see this reopened. Unfortunately, it was terrible and we ended up making sandwiches for dinner. The mashed potatoes were instant, the cornbread was flat and dense, creamed spinach tasted funny, gravy watery with no taste, and the carver had a weird tasting sauce with burnt bread. The turkey and chicken did taste good. Sadly, as much as this was our family’s favorite before closing we won’t return.

I’ve always been a fan of Boston Market and it was nice to see that they reopened. The server was very friendly but that’s where the good experience stopped. I ordered two plates, traditional chicken and meatloaf. Everything, including the sides and cornbread were dry, almost as if they had been sitting out all day. The gravy was bland and the meatloaf didn’t taste as it had prior. Back to the cornbread, it was hard and didn’t resemble what I remember. It just seems like the new owner isn’t putting in the work and lacks the pride to put out an edible and consistent product.

This is a nice place to eat especially because they are close to Irvine apartments homes. They reopened so my bf was so excited to come back and get some juicy roasted chicken. I had Bad experience with Boston Market previously so I rather a sandwich from Subway . My bf’s surprised was when he opened his plate he saw a brown half chicken, the rice were hard and potatoes were funny taste. This food was extremely expired. I am a food certified manager. I know exactly when food aren’t fresh. I highly recommend the owner to take care of this big issue or Hired an expert food management. Our kids could eat this food. Please people be aware.

Update. I hadn’t realized I had so poorly reviewed this place in the past. Three stars! Seems generous now.. The food was in fact food. It was edible. The ribs were tough. The chicken seems good but didn’t finish. The meatloaf was OK. The store was poorly kept, dirty tables floor et cetera. The restaurant was hot. Stuffy would be an understatement. Overall it wasn’t an experience I’d go back for.
