I just wanted to edit this review after looking at my grandmothers receipt. This is not even a gratuity charge this is just a charge for more than six people and then they wanted a tip on top of that.

I got the Teriyaki Chicken Bento that is in picture #1. I had already eaten 2 of the pot stickers and 1 of the California roll slices. My 10 year old niece is a champ!! She had 2 “Rainbow rolls” shown in picture #2 and finished them both. All the food was excellent and service was wonderful. This is my second time here and will definitely be going back soon.

I closed my menu and ordered the Yakisoba, the waiter asked if I wanted meat, I should have checked the menu when she asked, if I wanted meat? I thought it was choice of meat, not add meat; chicken was another $4. I did not get $4 worth of chicken. I feel disappointed. As for the yakisoba, I think the vegetables out numbered the noodles. It was okay, a little different than what I’m used to. They added a lump of rice to the place as a bonus.

Came here for takeout with my family because we were staying at the nearby Hilton Inn. Besides Japanese dishes on the menu, there was also some Korean food like spicy tofu soup with beef (soon dubu) and mixed vegetables and rice bowl (bibimbap). I ended up getting a salmon and tempura combo with miso soup, which was great! It was nice that the cooked salmon pieces came with the teriyaki sauce separated since my kids wanted plain fish while I could have mine with sauce. Tempura was a nice mix of veggies and the batter was crisp. Would definitely come back for more!

Needed to get our sushi fix while in town since it was down the street from where we were staying the night. Not bad Sushi at all, we are Salmon lovers. So we ordered half Fresh Salmon & Half seared Salmon Sashimi, and 3 other rolls. The Sashini cuts were onpoint!

The food was good, except for the mochi ice cream. It tasted like it had freezer burn. I’ve had mochi ice cream many times, but this was awful. It tasted old. The plum wine was the best I’ve ever had. The waitress was cold and didn’t tell us what each roll was. There were several on each plate and even though we all ordered our own thing they put them on the plates together at the end of the table. When you tried to talk to the waitress she was either very short or would walk away and not acknowledge us. At one point she put the bill down without saying anything or asking if we needed anything else. If she hates her job she should go somewhere else instead of making the owners look bad. The lady that answers the phone and greets people is very nice. I believe she is one of the owners.

My family and I come here very often and have always had great service and food! The bento boxes are our go to, as well as the dragon and vegas rolls. Bonsai is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Medford!

I always enjoy finding little secrets like this. They’re right there, you pass them every day, but somehow you miss them or you just don’t give them a chance because the big-name restaurants are easier and more reliable.

This is the worst place I’ve ever eaten. If you’re having a bad day the waitress takes it personal and starts being passive agressive with you. I asked her to replace one ingredient in a sushi roll and she said they couldn’t do that. Then, I requested her to ask the chef and change an ingredient and she wasn’t willing to walk towards the kitchen and make thay simple question. This is the first time something like this happend to me. It made think sushis weren’t fresh at all. I will never go back and give it another try. Simply uncomfortable. A non grata experience.
