In his grandmother’s kitchen in Buenos Aires, Argentina, chef Facundo DeFraia, spent countless hours working side-by-side his grandmother learning the art of Argentinian cooking. Facundo brought his love of cooking to the west coast in the early 2000’s and relocated to Minneapolis to assist his childhood friend, James Beard award nominee, Daniel Del Prado, in opening Martina.
After being named the dough wisperer by Rick Nelson, Minneapolis Star Tribune food writer, Facundo began dreaming up his own pizzeria concept. Inspired by his childhood Boludo was born in 2018 in the quaint Kingfield neighborhood in South Minneapolis. Boludo unites community and people through food and music, bringing a taste of Buenos Aires to Minneapolis.

The carne empanada was amazing but I was somewhat disappointed by the pizza, which I really wanted to like because I’ve heard people rave about it. The time I had it, the sauce was as sweet as a dessert which kind of ruined it. I’m definitely going to go back again sometime and will update my review if the next time is better.

I want to swim in the spicy herby oil that comes with the empanadas. The amount of cheese and crispy pepperonis on the crispy pizza cured my depression. I would marry this restaurant in my next life. Boludo is a place to truly live, laugh, love.

Highly recommend trying this restaurant. The pizza is insanely good as well as the empanadas. Cesar salad was also amazing. I could not get tired of this restaurant. Great food, great drinks, gpod music, and their is patio seating or seating inside.

Went there yesterday and order some empanada and a pizza the first empanada I ate there was a large piece of cooking plastic sheet in the empanada. I thought it was a chewy vegetable but I spat it out it wasn’t I told the guy he all he said was thank you!! Bad customer service!! The pizza was not good as the one I had at their firs5 location years ago!! The chimmchira sauce is not the same anymore also!!! Problay my last time going to buludo!! They not the same anymore!!

Best empanadas I’ve ever had in my life!! Every time I get food from here I want more. I don’t know what sauce comes with the empanadas, but I could drink a gallon of it. I always recommend people to boludo uptown. The spinach one and the leek one are my absolute favorite!!
