Top tier barbecue, easily the best in East Texas. Ranked in the Texas Monthly magazine as a top 5 BBQ joint in the entire state. Brisket is their specialty, always fresh out of the smoker and melts in your mouth. Get the Melman, a chopped brisket and sausage sandwich, it’s to die for. Great potato salad as well. And make sure to get the spicy BBQ sauce!!

Holy smokes! It’d been 35 years since I’d been here. I’ve moved all over the country since then and settled in Houston. I finally decided to take the road trip to Longview just for Bodacious. It was Phenomenal!!! That first bite of brisket almost brought me to tears. And the turkey was incredibly flavorful. The potato salad was the best I’ve ever had in my life! Thank you, Bodacious! Located close to Letourneau University, this is a fantastic place for a quick lunch. Friendly staff with excellent BBQ. We tried the Mel Man sandwich half brisket half sausage, Great sauce. The beans were a bit mild for my taste but my daughter loved the potato salad

Another Texas Monthly joint down. I’m now at 20 places out of the 50. This one definitely lived up to the hype of the #4 ranked place in Texas. The brisket was so succulent. The sausage had a sweetness to it. Almost like a breakfast sausage. The Dr. Pepper Pork Belly Burnt ends we’re amazing and could have been a dessert on its on with how sweet it was. The turkey was moist. My only disappointment was finding out they no longer serve the Toffee Bacon Candy. It left when Scott left. Sad day. Bodacious (specifically this one) is worth going to.

I normally don’t do this. I have eaten at Bodacious BBQ’s all over East Texas, but I have Never had this happen before. I ordered a chop beef sandwich with sausage. They were already out sausage before 3pm! When I got to the table with my sandwich something just did not seem right. After my third bite I noticed the bottom bun was completely SOAKED WITH GREASE! This is NOT ACCEPTABLE!! If I had to guess I would say my chopped beef was 75 to 85% FAT!!! Could only eat 1/3 of my sandwich! Maybe I should have taken it back? This would the first place I would have for NO FAT in my sandwich!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! The beans were Good and the Pickles, BUT THAT WAS ALL!!!!! Especially for $9.20!!!!!!

Very good barbecue for sure, though not the best we’ve ever had in Texas. Kudos for keeping the value high and prices relatively low. Hot links were good but not too spicy, and brisket was tender. Really liked the sauce. Quaint inside atmosphere with fun and interesting decor.

We flew 240 miles to come eat here because it’s that good. I’ve eaten here many times in the past when traveling for work and decided to fly in this most recent visit for pleasure. The food was excellent as always. I got a 3-meat plate that came with 2 sides, plus free beans. They also have onions, pickles, etc… out for customers as well. The portions are HUGE and the food was even better than I’d remembered. The staff was friendly and the dining area was very clean.
