My favorite “hole in the wall” in San Diego (La Mesa technically) I’ve been going here for years and its always been a 10/10. The staff makes it feel like home and the price is right. I usually grab a hot pastrami sandwich and a side of pasta salad. You get the support a local business and have some of the best Italian options in all of San Diego. A must try! 10/10

Great subs. The meatball sub was far better than we expected, and we were all fighting for 2nds. The bread was fresh, the meats freshly sliced, and the condiments placed in to go cups to our sandwich bread wasn’t soggy after getting it home. The sandwiches were placed in old school brown paper wrapper, in a brown paper bag – like when I was a kid in New Jersey and Philly. The smell of the sandwiches in the car on the way home was reminiscent of the smells from a true Italian deli. The only thing missing to make this place truly “old school” was a pickle barrel with crispy dill pickles. Very pleasant food operator who makes great sandwiches.

The sandwiches are great! Bread has a really nice texture that holds up to their yummy house dressing. I got “The Boulevard” sandwich. Really good with the cracked black pepper chips. The sandwich artist made my order exaclty as requested and was super friendly! They also offer some Italian grocery items. Check them out!

Had a delicious muffaletta at an incredible price. Considering I saw other delis charging $15-$20 a sandwich this place is a diamond in the rough. Small shop on the inside selling imported goods.

I used to live near here and drove by it a hundred times. I’m kicking myself for never stopping before. Their sandwiches are amazing. I had a veggie sandwich which is why you don’t see any meat in the picture the staff I’d very friendly and accommodating. It can get busy with phone orders so ease be patient. It is worth the wait

BMH Italian is located on a very busy street. Go see it for yourself, but the parking is less to be desired. When I walked in it was like walking into a movie of the zombie apocalypse; nobody to be seen/found, but the lights were on and the radio was going. Kind of weird but oh well. If your wanting to buy Italian food in bulk this is not the place to do it. This store appears to be good for sandwiches, meat and cheeses. However, everything is limited. I told the employee I was looking to buy ‘00’ Flour and she mentioned that they sell it in the store. I looked around for the prices and she said she had to call the manager. They priced me $3 more per pound than Vons down the street. I saved myself $18 just in flour alone. Do your research before going. I venture to say there are better Italian joints out there than this one. Good luck everyone!!

Sandwich was all bread and lettuce. There was barely any meat. We ordered the torpedo and got 1 slice of ham, salami and cheese in each half. Not gonna go here again, we will stick to Mona Lisa. Dressing was good.

This deli is in the top three delis in my area. However, for Italian food, this place along with Pietro’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, is the most authentic and it is served with humbleness. The ravioli, the pasta itself, has a pleasant quality and has some thickness without being doughy. I get a sub sandwich for my client every other Monday, and he is so thrilled with the bread which is made from both fresh yeast and active dry yeast.
