It is a really cool place. Excellent BBQ and the other restaurant is Mexican. You can order from both places. Inside and out side seats. They have lots of band and a large stage outside. My wife’s loves Mexican food and I love BBQ.

I kind of just ran into this place. Had the brisket and sausage plate with a side of Shiner beans. The beans were out of this world good. They had an awesome beer flavor along with a hint of salsa. The sausage was made in house and a unique flavor. It was good not a whole lot of smoke flavor. The brisket was ok. It was tender but lacked the rich smokey flavor I like in my brisket. It didn’t taste bad just not how I like my brisket.

Wanted to try this bbq place out because of the 5 star reviews. Well, I doubt we’ll be back. Signage to find the dining room was vague but finally found the entrance. Food served in the “dining room” in styrofoam to go boxes, plastic ware etc. Portions were generous I’ll give them that. Too much fat on the brisket for my liking so I had to cut it off. The menu said served with “Texas Toast” but we were given tortillas-seriously? They were setting up a huge stage for a concert I guess and the bar area was generously filled with liquor. So this place is a bar with lots of outdoor seating. Not my idea of a nice Friday night dinner with my wife. Peach cobbler dry and tasted like it was made last week. Good luck Blue Pit.

I’m from Jersey and came to San Antonio to visit a friend who is stationed in the area, and wanted to have authentic Texas BBQ and they brought me here. Where do I start, so the waitress was fantastic and suggested the brisket(obviously) and the German sausage. Let me tell you, NOTHING disappointed, the brisket was fantastic and the sausage was just as good. Friends wife suggested the peach cobbler, and while I could barely move and was going to bring it home to eat later, I took one bite and then another and before I knew it, it was gone. The whole staff was great, super friendly and genuine people. If I am ever back in this area, this will be my first stop when I get here and my last stop before I leave.

Was in San Antonio for the day, but my other half wasn’t feeling well, so we went back to the hotel, and I was on my own to eat. So I wanted to find something local to where we were staying. I saw the reviews on this place were high, and who doesn’t like a good BBQ place… so this was the winner of choice. When I arrived it was fairly slow and quiet. The back door is where you need to enter. They were out of some stuff due to an unexpected large party that had arrived and left. Since everything smoked is good, I tried the 1/2 pound plate with 2 sides. The owner was generous with what I ordered, by adding a little additional since they were out of what I really wanted. He also gave me some complementary green beans as a 3rd side, as he had plenty left yet. So I wound up with a much better value, and all he said was, “Just take care of your server, because the large party didn’t” which I thought was very nice, because he’s using extra food out of his pocket, to benefit his servers pocket. The food itself was very good. No complaints about any of it. Cooked well, warm, smoked flavor, tender, juicy, all the things you hope for. The added green beans were a tasty, addition. There was more than enough food, and I had food to take back to the room and put in the fridge for when one of us wanted some. This turned out to be a very good place and I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a try.

Perfectly Smoked brisket! The chicken fried steak was crispy outside and tender inside no way the meat ever saw a freezer. The pulled pork was just right, not too fatty and not dry with a great smoke flavor. Sides starting with my favorite, Mac and cheese awesome, pinto beans stewed up with the right combo of spices, and mashed potatoes. This is great place to have lunch on the way to of coming from the caverns or wildlife zoo. It is worth leaving the parks and driving back the 15 mins and eating there. Then return to the parks. Great place super friendly staff. Oh last thing, Eat the peach cobbler yummy!

Truckers, yall gotta stop in here and try their brisket. Fantastic. People were real friendly and the prices are suprisingly low for such good quality and flavor.

Pretty good brisket, potato salad was good, pulled pork was ok, coleslaw was good and fresh (wasn’t heavy, it had a more oil based dressing and i loved how light it was), they gave us 10% off bcuz I am military!! super happy about that. Will come back when i am in the SA area again!

The best BBQ in town!!! We just celebrated my husband retirement after 21 years in the Air Force this Saturday and had blue pit cater our special event. Our guest loved the food, it was amazing. The customer service is absolutely outstanding. They really took care of my party. I would definitely have them cater another special event for me. Thank you for your wonderful service you provided my family and friends on such a special event
