OUR STORY
In the days of prohibition, an illicit bar or speakeasy was sometimes referred to as a “blind pig” or a “blind tiger”. As the stories go, a tavern owner would charge customers a fee to come inside and see some attraction: an exotic or strange animal, for example. Although it was against the law to sell alcohol, it was not illegal to drink it. Those who paid to enter were served complimentary liquor.
Dine with us and you probably won’t see many animals; blind, exotic or otherwise. And yes, we’ll have to charge you for your cocktail. But come in and we hope you’ll find something we feel is few and far between these days: some good food in a nice atmosphere, surrounded by our neighbors, families and friends.

I had a wonderful dinner and cocktails yesterday! Bartender was wonderful and made a delicious old fashioned and espresso martini sans cream for me (thank you!) and my dinner was phenomenal. I got the 6oz surf and turf with grilled shrimp and garlic green beans as well as a small spinach salad to share with my partner. The appetizer of lobster rangoons was delicious and the presentation was great. Fries but not overly greasy and a good ratio of rangoon to filling (something I care about). My steak was cooked perfectly and my only tiny comments to this great establishment would be my green beans could have been slightly less cooked but were delicious nonetheless, and I do have to agree with the other review that some sound dampening foam or other method for helping the acoustics could be beneficial when large groups are in. All in all I will definitely be back as the food was excellent especially for the price and the atmosphere was very welcoming and modern. Thank you!

It’s a really nice place. We just had an appetizer and a drink. The acoustics are bad. Seemed like a nice place to relax until a large, loud group came in. Conversation was almost impossible after that. Probably doesn’t happen every day.

We thought the food was all fantastic, best I have eaten. Our server was Kaeleb he was great. There was one large group that at times got loud but we tolerated because all the rest was FANTASTIC.

Catered appetizers were perfect- a mix of meat & cheese, veggie, and fruit trays.

We continue to be impressed with this place, and it’s become our favorite area restaurant. It’s worth the drive if you’re not in Vandalia. The Lobster Rangoon is our favorite starter, and we’ve not had anything on their menu that we didn’t love. GREAT service & atmosphere and really, REALLY good food.

Ordered dinner while passing through. Restaurant charges $4 dollars for each Ceasar dressing and no dressing or any sauces for the appetizers or meals came at all. Both the zucchini fries and fried mushrooms breading was soggy. For over $100 order I expected a lot more. All food was hot though so there is that.

It was awful!!! The hostess sat us at our table. Then we waited and waited. Several waitresses passed by us but never waited on us. We asked the hostess to get out drinks and take our appetizer order and she said, IDK who your waitress is. Anyways after 18 minutes of not being waited on we left and won’t be back.

What a great place! Happened to be driving through Illinois on I-70 and stopped at a nearby campsite. I didn’t want to settle for subpar fast food along the highway. Thank goodness I didn’t.
