My boyfriend and I went inside to get sandwiches on Sunday October 2nd at about 5:30-6pm. We were the only customers they had. My boyfriend wanted the blimpie best sub and I wanted the spicy pulled pork sandwich. We noticed the meat portion on my pulled pork looked tiny, and the guy making the sandwich agreed it didn’t look like a full portion so he put more on the sandwich. Then he told me they were out of the slaw and asked if I wanted to skip it. I said no, that’s part of the reason I chose the sandwich. He told me he would go make a fresh batch of the coleslaw. About 5 minutes later he comes out and said they don’t have all the ingredients to make more slaw so I should pick a different sandwich. I thought maybe the turkey Ruben would be good so I had him make that. I asked for the sandwich to be warmed up on the sandwich press. We took our food to go since my boyfriend lives in Ankeny. When I opened up my Ruben it was soggy from the tin foil wrapped around it and hardly warm on the outside and fully cold on the inside. I took the first bite and I knew the salad dressing was rancid. Quite possibly the sauerkraut was spoiled as well, but it was putrid. My boyfriend tried a bite of my sandwich and agreed something was wrong with it so he gave me half of his blimpie best sub and we decided to take the Ruben back after we ate all of his sandwich. We returned to the store to find they had a sign saying the lobby was closed, drive-thru only. So we inform them of the problem with my sandwich and ask if they will replace it with another blimpie best sub, since that was what my boyfriend had and he still wasn’t full because he gave me half of his food. At no point did anyone apologize or offer to refund our money. When the guy handed me the replacement sandwich he did it with his middle finger holding the bag, I was shocked. He didn’t say anything to me. Then I asked if he needed the sandwich we didn’t eat and he rudely said, yep. Again didn’t apologize, didn’t say anything besides “yep”. We spent an extra ten minutes waiting for our food the first time we ordered because they hadn’t prepped the coleslaw and didn’t have ingredients to make more, then had to come all the way back to the store, nicely explain the issue with the sandwich and asked for a replacement, then wait for another sandwich and nobody could muster an apology? Instead we were disrespected and treated rudely. And as if that weren’t enough, the replacement sandwich was soaking wet. Did they dip it in the toilet? We ended up throwing it away. I can’t believe this is how Blimpie treats it’s customers. We spent over $30 for two combo meals. Never again.

The woman making our sandwiches in a Drake sweatshirt was quite frankly rude. We are on our way home from a funeral. We just wanted good food. Instead the woman completely disregarded our desires for our sandwiches that we paid for. She also failed to restart the sandwich when asked. Overall quality the bread looked good. It’s generally clean. The only problem is a people problem. Sunday June 12th 1225 pm.

I haven’t had Blimpie’s sandwiches in years since they first came to Des Moines in the 90’s. Well several of us at work decided to give this location in Ankeny a try for our lunches we all ordered different 3 of ordered Cuban Pulled Pork with different toppings 1 ordered the Spicy Cuban Pulled Pork and there were a couple different other sandwiches ordered also. Needless to say after our experiences with our sandwiches today we were all highly disappointed and vowed we’d never be ordering from Blimpie again, because the sandwiches pictured online looked good but the sandwiches we got in person were nothing like pictured not in the slightest or remotely close the Ciabatta bread you could tell was not made in house like you would find at other sub shops, the ham looked like budding type meat, the pulled pork was bland NOT flavorful one bit no smokey flavor like most pulled pork would have it had the look, consistency and texture like it came out of a can of canned cat or dog food leaving a bad taste and after taste in your mouth not what any of us expected. Needless to say we all ended up pitching our meals in the trash…. Yes they were that bad to think we skipped ordering from Jersey Mike’s or any place else for this garbage. Never again. We all wanted to try something different than our normal or something we had lately. We definetely got something “Different” and not in a good way either. My advice for the next person or group don’t get disappointed yourselves go elsewhere especially for the price you pay at Blimpie’s.

Bread seemed different (not as good as I remember) and the portions on a turkey and provolone consisted of (literally) one slice of turkey. Ordered a footlong for the kids to split and asked for no cheese and half with mayo.. got cheese and no mayo on the entire thing. I hate how I feel like I’m being rude by asking them to correct their own mistake. Not sure we’ll be back. People need to be held accountable for their actions.

I didn’t realize there were any Blimpie’s still around, until I found this one in Ankeny. We drove out of our way to get there and now we regret going there. The bread on both me and my wife’s sandwiches tasted like sand paper. When I asked Michael, the guy behind the counter, if they had any bread that wasn’t overcooked, he said that all their bread was pretty dense and that’s how corporate wanted the bread cooked. Don’t go to this place! You will definitely get a better sandwich anywhere else. I guess there’s a reason most Blimpie’s have closed!

In Ankeny, visiting. Didn’t know that any Blimpies still were around, in our home area they were our go to sub shop until they all closed down years ago. My meatball sandwich was good, not great; family liked their turkey sandwiches.

Paid almost $9.00 for a philly steak and cheese that had less then 2 oz of meat. The bread is so dense that it is hard to chew. So not what Blimpies used to be. Very disappointed!
