UPDATE March 7, 2023- REOPENED TODAT AT NEW LOCATION! Finally life at Sanibel feels more normal after hurricane Ian— The French Bistro opened today! As delicious as ever, staff as delightful and friendly. INCREDIBLE lobster Bistro, wonderful Sea Bass dish and New Zealand lamb chops, wine and perfect French silk pie! And the inside MUCH brighter than previous restaurants here- with strings of clear light bulbs inside . THANK YOU AND WELCOME BACK

The food was OK. The escargot was good, the steak was cooked to my desired temperature. The Béarnaise was was slightly over acidic. Perhaps less white wine vinegar or lemon juice. I definitely did also see the favoritism for locals and the treatment towards new comers was a bit un-welcoming. As an island restaurant I thought it would be much more down to earth and a humbling experience. The waitress was lovely, I can see the “passion” of the owner. After the storm, I thought everyone would be delighted for more business. I guess not every establishment feels the same. The food tastes better when it’s surrounded by a more welcoming environment.

This is the best restaurant that I have ever had the pleasure of working at. This is my second season with them and I’m so happy to return. The owner Chef Christian is the real deal. We make everything from scratch daily with the freshest ingredients, and treat every dish like it is being served to our own mother. With a menu featuring stews, fresh fish, beef, and poultry, there are options for everyone. Christian’s wife and co owner Mari runs the front of house, and I love how she warmly greets all of the guests. She is an absolute gem and a total badass. This place runs on respect, love, and hard work. Our new location is as cozy and personal as any French Bistro would be. This is the quintessential mom and pop shop that you’ve been looking for, on Sanibel island, with a French twist. Don’t skip over Bleu Rendezvous. See you soon- Kyle

We never miss this restaurant when we are on island and when possible we try to get there more than once. The food is excellent and Mari always makes us feel like old friends. These reviews claiming this is “fake French” are laughable. My mother was French and I can assure you this is genuine French food at its best!

The new bistro is just fabulous! And the food and service are fabulous as well. Love the coziness of the new location. Our server, Chelsea, was there just as we needed her and is an expert in the menu. Very welcoming, delightful and knowledgeable. The food remains the star of Bleu Rendez-Vous. Our party of 4 had a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts – all to die for. Thank goodness Mari and Christian have reopened on Sanibel!!

My husband and I dine at Bleu Rendezvous as often as we can. It’s a great place to grab a quick bite or celebrate birthdays and anniversaries! Chef Christian and Mari greet and treat everyone like long lost family friends. The food is always amazing! From appetizers to entrees to desserts, there isn’t a bad choice on the menu. Some personal favorites are the Onion Soup Gratinee, Boeuf Bourguignon, and the Creme Brûlée. And now I’m hungry for a visit so will be calling for reservations this weekend! We are thrilled they have rebuilt and reopened after the destruction of Hurricane Ian! Sanibel strong at its best.

Exceptional from the moment you walk in the door. They pride theirselves in perfection from the service to the food. They do not disappoint! Hands down best choice in SWFL. Menu has selections for everyone’s likes. Portions are nicely sized. Wine selection is great. If you ask for their recommendations you will not be anything less that amazed by their selection for you! Thank you Mari, Christian, and staff for working hard to make our dining experiences personalized and enjoyable every single time! We look forward to returning each and every time we leave Bleu Rendezvous. If you have not tried this hidden gem, you NEED to make a reservation to experience it yourself. You will enjoy the experience.
