My husband is a big fan of fish so we thought we’d give it a try. He ordered the 3 piece fish with fries only and potato salad. I’m not a huge fish fan, so I ordered the 3 piece chicken with fries only and extra hushpuppies for my 2nd side. I also ordered a single piece of fish to try.

I got the “Tortuga” combo which has fish & shrimp. It was delicious, the fries were fresh and crispy, chips were crunchy, hush puppies were perfect! I wasn’t a fan of the potato salad, and the cocktail sauce was a bit spicy for me (I did ask for non-spicy). Overall a great place to swing by and grab some fish when you’re having a craving!

They are new so there is a learning curve. The fish and chicken were okay, the tartar sauce was good, no sauce for chicken and they were out of malt vinegar. Some of the shrimp were burned. The fries were good, the chips were okay (although I was expecting British style fish and chips). The hush puppies were good but were missing from our shrimp meal as well as the cocktail sauce I asked for. Coleslaw was good. Potato salad was excellent. The cups they use impart a wax taste to the drinks. We will try again when they are more established.

The Fries and Fish are good enough, but I came with a gift card and was told they wouldn’t honor it. I left a picture of the gift card I tried to use. It says it has a balance of $25 and I can’t use it! It feels immoral to not honor a gift card for your business. The lemonade tasted like it was made from a powder, and the potato salad tasted like the potato salad from Sam’s club (also the side is about two bites of food) Overall I wasn’t impressed.

Needs a better fish and chicken batter. Don’t really care for the coleslaw or potato salad. All the sodas were flat. Always minimum 30minutes + to get your food.

My family ate here when it originally opened under different owners and they had many things that need improved. We went back after Blackbeards had been sold to another family and we were thrilled that they had improved everything we had complaints about! The food has been cooked perfectly (including the chips). The food is great. My only complaint is that the sodas could taste better. I don’t go there for the drinks though so it’s just a minor thing. Oh, the service is great too! My family loves the tiny swords they use for the hushpuppies! Super cute. Great experiences the last two times we went so we’ll be back.

Second time to try. Gave one more chance to see if it would improve and it has not. Fish is cooked in oil that is too hot causing the outside to burn and inside to be doughy. Instead of offering fresh lemon wedges, which this desperately needed, they added a ton of lemon pepper after it was cooked resulting in eating raw seasoning. Shrimp is nothing but frozen shrimp you could get at wal mart. No seasoning whatsoever. Fries are soggy, no seasoning whatsoever and tastes like old oil. What is the point of the “chips”? They’re cut too thick to ever be crispy and even if they were you put hot fish on top and they’re soggy. Cole slaw is obviously store bought and mine is 3 days old. Hush puppies are nothing but corn meal and whole kernel corn. Leave out the corn and add onions, jalapeños and seasoning. If you’re going to be fast food that just serves frozen half cooked food your prices should reflect that. Won’t go back unless I hear it’s under new management.

Fish was very good. Coating was crispy and light. Fish was moist and flaky. Fries and chips were perfectly cooked and a large portion. Service was great. Very friendly. Will definitely be returning again.

I’ve said for years that we need a good fish and chip joint. We still do. The fish was way overdone, darker than the hush puppies, not a full filet either. I don’t know why there were kettle chips in with the fries, to get soggy I suppose. The fries were greasy. The only good thing was the potato salad and it was two days old. $13 was entirely too expensive for what I got.
