Always a great staple choice with awesome variety of options. All the food and drinks are always top notch. You can’t go wrong here ever. Been coming here for years and never disappointed. Elderflower mule was delicious. Definitely try one of their drink specials, they are so unique. Sometimes the seasonal wait staff isn’t perfect but that’s ok. Yesterday everything the guy set down he basically slammed, but he was young and it didn’t make a mess or anything just a little caught off guard. Otherwise the evening was perfect and the store has some great shopping you can do while you wait out after your meal. Found some great necklaces for $8 and beach decor that was very affordable.

We used Black Pelican Catering for our wedding buffet at a private residence in Nags Head. Leading up to the wedding it was an incredible pleasure working with Jen & Summer who were professional and patient with all of my questions and menu adjustments. We visited the restaurant beforehand to try some of the items on their catering menu and immediately knew we wanted to go with them! The crab rangoon and sweet potato ham biscuits are AMAZING! My Maryland husband is very picky about crab cakes and even HE gave their crab cakes the stamp of approval. High praise! There were some issues with the delivery on the day of the wedding, but Black Pelican was quick to apologize and go way beyond what we were expecting to correct our experience. I was worried about the quantity of food since you never know how guests will act around a buffet, but we were assured that there would be plenty for everyone to try everything on the menu. And sure enough, there was PLENTY to go around and we even had some leftover! We are so grateful for their kindness and quality! We would highly recommend them for catering.

This was our first experience with the Black Pelican. We went during lunch hours. I’m not a fan of any seafood so I was a little worried about eating here but shouldn’t have been. The burger was one of the best I’ve had. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. We will definitely make this a stop next time we are in OBX.

It was our first night in OBX and we ended up having dinner here. It was a very busy night. I could see our server running back and forth. I got the baked shrimp and crab and my husband got the prime rib. I thought my order needed a little more flavor to it. Not just salt and pepper flavor. Maybe it’s just me. But my craving for seafood is satisfied. My husband loved his prime rib but the serving was big for him he had to take home leftovers. We also ordered calamari which I thought was good except for the size of the squid they used it was too small. Our busy server tried her best to be attentive considering it was a very busy night for her.

Seated immediately. Food was delicious. Service was a bit slow. Desserts were also delicious and huge! Coconut shrimp were fantastic. For the menu and prices we were expecting a bit more updated atmosphere but it definitely has beach Dive Bar vibes.

Ate at some other local spots and this one was the best! We are a large group of 11 and we were all seated together, which was the first plus, It’s a large establishment. They have a great kids menu, sea food lovers, meat lovers, steamed foods including crab and buckets of “boil”, vegetarian options (not just the items listed as sides, but real food), pizza lovers…truly something for everyone! I had a frozen piña colada, which wasn’t from a machine❤️. The staff was friendly and quick. The hot food came out hot and delicious. Everything we ordered was great! I think it was the only place the whole family was happy.

The service wasn’t terrible. But the food was awful. I couldn’t even eat my dinner (bacon wrapped scallops). The bacon was undercooked and the scallops were over cooked. The mashed potatoes were…. I don’t know what they were, but they weren’t real. It was like something instant. Same with the sweet potato purée. My one daughter got the crab cakes. They looked like they came frozen out of a box from the super market. And they tasted as such. The cocktail I got was meh. And it was $150.00 after they took my dinner off the bill. RIP OFF!!!

The seafood here is fresh and scrumptious. Menu has a large selection to choose from and the desserts are top of the line, freshly made. There are specials on different days of the week for food and alcoholic beverages. Service was great from our server and the bartender working the day we visited was great! Unfortunately, the hostess was not as polite due to the size of our party, but all in all a great place to visit.
