In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. This was our first time coming here. We had a great server, everyone in the kitchen was organized and on board. The food temperature and quality was great! The portions are very generous so make sure to keep that in mind if your considering having dessert. We will definitely be coming back in the near future. Server was a little slow for a Monday morning, and he called me ‘Boss’ a lot – which I can’t stand. But kitchen staff had order out quick. Food was tasty, but contained items I asked them to omit. Also, the majority of the dish was potatoes accompanying a woefully small portion of actual meat. Biscuits here are terrific, though.

Nothing to complain about! Nothing to rave about! Great little diner with a cozy atmosphere with friendly service! Have visited several locations in several states and would definitely visit again for diner food. Cobbler wasn’t that great so try a different dessert maybe.

Such a cute place! Loved the country diner atmosphere. The food was delicious and they have really nice souvenirs and delicious desserts! A must try! Our servers name was Jay and he was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be going back!

My first time here and the Cinnamon Roll French Toast was just what we were craving. Good coffee, nice ambience and good service by a friendly staff. I want to come back on a Friday for the all you can eat fish and fries. I will recommend.

Have been a loyal customer for some time now but our visit last week made us wonder what is going on with the diner. We entered the diner and there was no one at the front desk. There was a couple waiting to pay and we to be seated. Waited several minutes until I got the attention of one of the cooks and he went and found the hostess.

10/10 will DEFINITELY be going again when we are in town. Wonderful diner feel that you don’t find often where we are from. The breakfast menu is printed on a news paper, which was awesome and definitely tied the whole diner feel together!! The food was beyond amazing. The service was outstanding, even though it was only one girl and she had at least 8 tables. She stopped by multiple times, got our order 100% correct, and made sure we had everything we needed! I unfortunately don’t remember her name, but mam, you were amazing! We made a few substitutions, and I’m pretty picky, but she got my hash browns and all substitutions right, which never happens!! The food was also out of this world! Hats off to the chef! The menu is HUGE, and full of great looking food and our breakfast was great! Large portions for a great price. Thank you so much for that delicious meal before we fly back to Texas! ‼️
