I have to say, the food was phenomenal especially the giant biscuits, that could have been a whole meal itself. I recommend the bigfoot chicken fried steak. One thing that shocked me is with biscuits that big they didn’t have biscuits and gravy on the menu. Service was good, there were a couple hiccups but not really anything to complain about. I was not a fan of the atmosphere, not that it was bad, just not to my taste, I did like the newspaper menus though that was a nice touch. I would definitely go back and give some of the other items a try.

Food is great! Service is great as well! There are days when I get a waitress/waiter that isn’t very attentive but the manager (I believe) makes up for it all the time! The picture is the Joe’s Hobo omelet with the biscuit and hash browns! Very good ᵕ̈ the bear that walks around the restaurant is quite awkward but it’s hilarious! We love that bear! He made it to our table 6+ times in the hour we ate there! Haha! Love this restaurant for casual dining!

I’ve eaten at the Black Bear diner in Federal Way several times and it was always good. The Lakewood location was no exception. It was right before the holidays and Santa was near the hostess stand waiting to greet us. They surprisingly had family friendly hip hop music playing throughout which was a nice surprise and the whole atmosphere felt festive and fun, even thought the weather was terrible out. The food was spot on and the service was wonderful. This is diner food at its finest. You can’t go wrong with the fried chicken or the chili! Get out to your nearest black bear diner and get you some down and dirty comfort food with a smile!

This morning I ordered some food from this well known restaurant and as I was preparing to eat I found a foreign object that appeared to be & was later confirmed to be a metallic piece of something. I immediately stopped eating and stored my food item in the freezer after I took pictures. I also dissected the remainder of my meal in search of more possible metal luckily none more was found) which is included in the pictures. They couldn’t even give me my money back for Pete’s sake. At this point I’m choosing to file a lawsuit on them because it was unacceptable. Just my experience…

Everything was really good. The mimosas, the food, everything. The portions were large as well. I got an entree which was eggs and choice of breakfast meat, I got ham, and the stuffed french french toast with side of strawberries and whipped cream which cost a little extra, a mimosa, and an ice tea and spent 37 bucks not including tip. The mimosa was great and the stuffed french toast was amazing. A good place for a home style brunch.

As for a national chain this place is amazing along with its home town service. As most chains go to premade processed food that is heated and served this place actually provided fresh vegetables and chicken fried steak. The management must be top notch as service was great and the people there all had smiles along with a sense urgency to serve and take care the customers. I was so happy to have a place that provided similar food and atmosphere back in the day when quality and service was the priority. I will be back more often as to try the vast menu of items that are my favorite. Thank you Black Bear Diner Lakewood.

What a lovely place. The staff are friendly and the menu is pretty big. At first it can be tough to decide what you want, but it’s nice to try new things every time and have options. Especially when it’s breakfast all day. What’s cozier than breakfast for dinner? Probably many things, but let’s think about eggs and pancakes for dinner in a bear themed diner. Become bear, embrace the bear.
