Positive things: Holly and Ben. Great people with big nice attitudes, great servers that never wavered in their professional demeanor. Water had no after taste. Apparently their Tomato Cream Soup/Corn Bread impressed my female sidekick regardless of its almost $10 price tag for a well served bowl. The way she started eating it told of a good ending. Coffee and Tea, refillable both, a tad better than most. Was it the norm? The time of the day around 5 PM with 25% full? Guess it was.

We went here to grab some grub on a late Sunday afternoon. We walked in the door to people exiting grumbling about the food. We were met by the hostess who told us it would be about a 20 minute wait. While waiting a group walked out and went to another restaurant, I know this because we walked out too after about half an hour, and saw them at Logan’s. Oh, did I mention that half of the tables were unoccupied?

Our sever is very friendly. But as for the food, it’s not good. I think I’m not going back again. We ordered ribs and New York steak. The rib is very chewy like rubber. But the flavor is ok. The steak is a disaster. It’s very lack of seasoning and overcooked. As for the onion rings, the crust is thick and hard. We only ate one piece. Besides, the meal is $70 before tax. It’s kind of expensive compared to its portions and quality.

At restaurant at around 11:30am, not very busy but after being seated it took over 10 minutes for anyone to take our drink order, we were a party of 4, we ordered our food at the same time as our drinks. Our drinks again took over 10 minutes to get and our food took over 30 minutes to get and we had to ask where our food was? In total we sat at our table for over 1 hour before being served our food. Then we waited for our check which we had to ask for. Once we went to pay no one at the register and we had to wait again until there was at least 4 other people in line. I have never received this kind of service at black bear, don’t get me wrong the staff was doing their best but the restaurant is completely understaffed!!! I do not plan on returning to this location again.

I got a chicken salad. She got a chicken sandwich. The chicken was well cooked and well seasoned. Juicy and delicacies.

They were under staffed, so not judging by the long wait time.

We (two of us) came in on a Saturday morning just before 8am. It wasn’t busy at all and yet the wait staff had us sitting at our table 20-minutes with empty coffee mugs before taking our order. We waited a further 50-minutes for our order to be served. Sadly, the order wasn’t even correct after all that time.

The food was amazing as always. Sammy was our waiter tonight and she made the experience excellent. It seemed like she was waiting on the entire restaurant, but to her credit, she killed it. She needs a raise, and Black Bear needs another server or two. We can’t all be Sammy’s!
