We had been working all day at a farmers market in Giddings and made it just at the cutoff time to Base Camp Deli on our way back home. We were treated with smiles from Clara and the option to have a made-to-order brisket sandwich either with a French jus dip or cheese. Also ordered a refreshing cucumber mint tea that I sipped while waiting for the order. We got one of each and it did not disappoint. I had the one with the French jus dip: tidy but decadent. Bread was toasted perfectly and the flavor bursted. They put a lot of care into their creation and you can taste it. Definitely check out this hidden gem.

They’ve done it again. I love this sandwich shop and already reviewed once. But then they created another amazing masterpiece, the Cubano. I sit here eating it feeling obligated to say how good it is. It’s so unique. The flavors are extraordinary and powerful. I normally want to substitute items on or off my sandwiches from most places but this place nails it every time. I just eat whatever they give me, like homemade pickles?! I’m not even sure these are pickles…they taste like Christmas in my mouth.

I had the Italian sandwich and soup special (sausage, white bean and kale) which was Delicious. The perfect balance of meat, veggies and herb mayo. The bread is delicious and sourced locally. I never knew I would like olives until I had it in this sandwich. The owners are fairly new to town and are wonderful people who are very friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, there is a nice outdoor area as well.

Great little sandwich shop. They only have outside seating. I like the chicken salad sandwich here. The staff are very friendly and are willing to explain their choices.

Awesome little spot tucked away right off the main highway into town. Staff was extremely friendly and helped us choose what to order, even though we showed up right before closing. Sandwiches were excellent, really hearty and plenty of meat.

Let me get to the point. I ordered the chicken pesto sandwich and was thinking it was probably a bad idea because chicken breast tends to be dry compared to other parts right. Not here buddy, that chicken was so moist, juicy and flavorful I couldn’t believe it. I came back the next day and had to run it back. Probably the best chicken pesto sammy that I’ve ever had. Decent size, I was full and satisfied. I also had the Italian salad, it was good but the sandwich was the show stopper.

My son and I tried Base Camp for the first time today and I’m sorry we waited so long. We had the Italian and the Turkey and Havarti sandwiches. Both were delicious and almost more than we could eat. These are the best sandwiches we’ve had in a long time, the staff was friendly and service was great. Definitely one of our favorites in Bastrop.

We’ve lived in Bastrop for two years and had never eaten here. Sandwiches are not my favorite thing to eat out and also I can’t eat gluten. We were walking in Downtown last week and decided to give it a try. I’m so glad we did because it was fantastic!! I had the turkey and havarti on gluten free bread, and it was the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten! The turkey was great and paired well with the Havarti. The greens on the sandwich were fresh and are tossed in their house made vinaigrette. They put sprouts on it and I love sprouts. I had them add Dijon mustard along with the herb mayonnaise, and all of the flavors combined so well. Gluten-free bread is not always great, but theirs was and it was toasted to boot. Yummy!

I got the base camp cabano and it was really yummy. I loved the homemade Pickles! It was a little too much meat for my taste and the service was a little slow. I definitely recommend calling ahead. I will definitely be back to try a different sandwich

Great sandwiches and soups. There’s even options for the vegetarian in your life, which is wonderful. There is no indoor seating due to space, but plenty of outdoor, covered and uncovered, seating with heaters if needed.
