As avid fans of the taco tank, we were so stoked to visit and eat here! Let me tell you, it did not disappoint!

Ok, just YUM! We tried Barbacoa last night because we’d heard good things about their cocktail menu, and we left as big fans of everything from the molé to the martinis.

Would recommend the carnitas, brisket taquitos, and especially the charro beans! So so good! I got the turkey and mole and it was ok, next time I will get the carnitas! I asked for a side of a spicier salsa for my meal. This is such a great spot for a date! I will need to come back and try brunch. Note – if you are on a budget – I would pay attention to the main dish prices.

Went for Sunday brunch today, absolutely fantastic. The hostess and staff were all wonderful, the drinks were great, and the food was SO good. I had El Burro, a huge breakfast burrito, and the brisket was as good as any I’ve had in KC. Do not miss out on this place, make reservations and check it out!

Both times I’ve eaten at Barbacoa absolutely everything has been delicious- food AND drink. It’s really easy to make a reservation, everyone there is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is nice, clean, and open! The Ceviche is my fav so far and the 104 Fortaleza Street drink is so good I’ll be stopping by just for the bar as well! Highly recommend, will be back often!

Barbacoa was absolutely incredible. The food, drinks, staff, and atmosphere all contributed to an amazing night out. The food was especially incredible, with each dish impressing us more than the last. All of them were delicious, though I must say the smoked carnitas were out of this world. The flavor profile in that meat was honestly breathtaking. When compared to some of KC’s most renowned BBQ dishes, this makes the competition seem pedestrian.

First time going, but won’t be the last. Drinks were too notch. And the food…wow, the carnitas and the shrimp…must haves! Our wait staff was awesome! Excited to have this great restaurant in the neighborhood!

We loved our first experience at Barbacoa. We were greeted and promptly seated by friendly and welcoming staff, enjoyed amazing cocktails (the Foggy Oaxaca is possibly one of the best cocktails I’ve ever had!), and delicious, beautifully presented, very delicious food. We enjoyed the ceviche, chicken taquitos with mole, and brisket tacos. Everything was outstanding, but the sauces were particularly delightful with such nuance in the flavors. Those Yoli tortillas are pretty special too! We have recommended this to many already, and cannot wait for our next visit!

What a cool little place! Why couldn’t it have existed 45 years ago when I lived around there going to UMKC?
