Go ahead and stop in. We almost missed it driving by, even with gps directions. Choosing out of hundreds of nearby restaurants during ISU move in day, we chose this and I’m glad we did. It’s a little pricey but the quality is great. Their wine list included some great choices. They do have small plates but that equals room for dessert so after we both had the gnocchi, we ordered a tiramisu. The tiramisu is one of the best I’ve had and is clearly made in house.

The mushroom toast and pork belly were both excellent. Ingredients were fresh and the plating was cute. The crown jewel was the Aviation cocktail. Service was good and the staff was friendly. I’ll be back as the menu appears to have a lot of cool and interesting options.

Excellent cocktails and the salmon dish was divine. I fusilli texture was not what I wanted with lamb, but the flavor was really good. I would’ve preferred shredded parmesan vs the granular and not have it be already added to fusilli as well. Will be coming here again!

Had brunch Sunday afternoon. Excellent veggie hash plate with fresh fruit. Also have excellent grilled cheese and tomato soup. Highly recommend checking it out!

This review is based on the food, drinks and my coworkers comments. The service was NOT good. It was SLOOOOOOOW . Food AMAZING! Drinks STRONG & AMAZING! My coworkers were very happy with their food. I had the Rigatoni sausage & beef……. DELICIOUS . You should give it a try if ever in Ames. My drinks were French 75 & Margarita. NICE!!! You’re boy The RIBOLOGIST IS OUT ✌

The restaurant was not busy we waited 15 minutes before being asked for our orders. The server was very nice and attentive once she served us. However, the food was beyond unpleasant, this by far is the worst restaurant I ever ate at. The Linguine Neri had a foul fishy taste and the shrimp was rubbery. This was the first time I ever had to send a dish back and asked for something different. I instead had the Baked Cavatelli which was overpriced for being mid. Overall this restaurant puts fine dining to shame, the only appeal is the atmosphere.

Bar la Tosca is a great restaurant to check out in Ames downtown. Their cocktails are wonderful, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the food is always wonderful. The prices are great and it’s easy for anyone to find something they can enjoy.
